Slanted & Enchanted or Wowee Zowee
what's better?, i don't have Wowee Zowee and people keep telling me it's great, but is it better than slanted & enchanted?
so which ones better? maybe Mark Ibold will see this and come online, give us his opinion, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. |
God bless you.

did i sneeze?
|
slanted
|
Too difficult to choose. I can't vote.
Actually I can't choose a Pavement album I prefer, I love them all, and for different reasons. Except Terror Twillight, it's sounds like a Malkmus solo album. I'd say... Westing. |

i vote slanted
|
slanted!
but my favorite song is Unfair. |
i usually don't like to rate one album better than the other, but i'd have to say wowee zowee. slanted and enchanted seems to be a lot of peoples favorite, but to me the overall sound leaves me wanting more-- which is where wowee zowee comes in. wowee zowee has much more range, so you can hear some fast punk stuff (flux=rad), laid back country (father to a sister of thought) and some classic pavement rocking (at&t etc) all in one record. not to mention, because of the more imaginative styles in wowee zowee the material was way more fun to record and play on the road.
|
wow, hey Mark, hows it going?? you on the road at the moment? what are you doing to steve's birthday???

steves birthday was a blast!! steve is not so about sex drugs and rock and roll like most people think.. hes a mellow guy, so it was just a family and friends deal. we went out to this mexican food restaurant and when somebody mentioned it was his birthday all the waiters sang 'happy birthday' in spanish!! i wanted to sing along but my spanish is not very good. i learned german in school. |

|
Slanted. I love Wowee Zowee though.
|
oh fuckin hell!!!!!!!!!!!!
what a poll??? what a decision to ask of a man after been in the pub all night... drunk as i am i know the answer, it has to be hands down wowee fuckin zowee |
Wowee Zowee was the last Pavement album i got, and i just dont like it as much as the others. I think its scattershot charm exerts itelf well in the first half but the songs become less and less appealing as it goes on. Slanted is a concise thing, Wowee Zowee seems like Slanted stretched out further than it needed to go. Theres a good 4 or 5 songs id cut from Wowee Zowee
|
Slanted, no contest. Wowee Zowee is so fucking inconsistent, and reagardless of it having some of my favourite Pavement songs (AT&T, Grounded, Half A Canyon...) it's totally messed up and inconsistent. The sequencing is terrible, as if it was just put on shuffle with a bunch of silly first-takes of joke songs.
Whereas Slanted is fucking perfect! |
There's more filler on Slanted. Well, at least more filler that I dislike.
|
its all about serpentine pad for me, especially the amped up live version,
so i had to vote for wowee. |

Are you mad? Are you ok?
I thought someone might be interested in this: ![]() A big thank you to Matt Picasso for originally sharing these unreleased, live Malkmus tracks (and then later re-hooking me up after I promptly lost them.) The sound quality on these is fantastic. The following nine tracks are culled from The Jicks January 20th gig in Portland during this past winter’s tour. I was at the tours kickoff show at Bimbos, in San Francisco, a couple of weeks prior, and the place got nuts. Malkmus strolled on-stage sporting a straight up bandito mustache and led the band through an improvised, fuzzed out, jammy two hour set. **To see said Malkmus ’stache — and the band performing “Pencil Rot” — that night, click HERE. I try to avoid threads about bands I don't like. But I need to ask something: Pavement were rubbish, weren't they?
|
It's all Malkmus' fault. He's an annoying prick. They should have been an instrumental band.
