Chris Benoit

Just heard last night about what happened to Chris Benoit. The news seems sketchy but suggests that he killed his wife and son before hanging himself. Does anyone know anything more?

MellySingsDoom 06.26.2007 01:26 PM

Found this on the Southern Lord forum:

StevOK 06.26.2007 01:27 PM

Just read on CNN that he smothered his child, strangled his wife, and hung himself. What a bastard.

you could ask my wife.....

apparently she was forced to sit through some 3 hour memorial special about this douchebag last night.

pantophobia 06.26.2007 01:49 PM

i didn't expect this subject here

i used to watch wrestling years ago, and unlike so many, he was a very respected guy, not weird at all and just a figure of integrity in workmanship, it is known that steroids causes fits of depression and violent behavior, and this seems more then likely the cause of it

i hope this brings in investigations into McMahon and his whole company, and all of the steroid use within, between this and the death of Owen Hart, the company should have been just gutted

Jennthebenn has been doing research on the amount of wrestlers who have died in the last 10 years, and it's appauling how many die so young, either from drugs or murder

He should've hanged himself before killing his wife and son. Anyway, I hadn't heard of him before.

demonrail666 06.26.2007 02:27 PM

I have a weird fascination with WWE and it's true that Chris Benoit was the last person I'd expect to do something like that. The irony is of course, on the tributes I saw the other night almost everyone was going on about what a great husband and father he was. Hmmm.

Savage Clone 06.26.2007 02:43 PM

"He was a great husband and father, except for the murder part."

SynthethicalY 06.26.2007 02:46 PM

What was his name, in wrestling? I forgot after someone told me it was all a big fake.

Savage Clone 06.26.2007 02:56 PM

Someone had to tell you wrestling is fake?

No, I was being a sacarstic twit.

jennthebenn 06.26.2007 02:58 PM

amazing technical wrestler. it's all staged, of course, but some wrestlers
do their jobs better than others. chris benoit was the type of grappler who
could make you forget this was all a show. he was also a piece of shit
scumbag murdering bastard. maybe some people can reconcile
the contrast...i can't. not this. kill your wife and child? unforgivable, unjustifiable.

atsonicpark 06.26.2007 03:04 PM

yeah,

amazing technical wrestler

let's not forgot that REPORTS SUGGEST THAT HE PROBABLY KILLED HIS WIFE AND SON AND HIMSELF. nothing's official yet!

but yeah, he was a fucking millionaire. no matter what problems you have with your wife and kid, why would you fucking kill them when you could have anything wanted? it just seems crazy to me. selfish.

Savage Clone 06.26.2007 03:06 PM

Being a human caricature who panders to the lowest common denominator in a form of "entertainment" that thrives on cartoonish violence while simultaneously using steroids to whatever degree is expected of you can maybe have some ill effects on the psyche of the kind of person who would go into that line of work in the first place, perhaps.

atsonicpark 06.26.2007 03:11 PM

wow.

well-said.

luxinterior 06.26.2007 04:03 PM

I used to love wrestling. This news was surprising. I told my brother about it and he thought I was joking.

demonrail666 06.26.2007 04:54 PM

If Benoit's little 'outburst' really was down to steroids, then this guy's family must be shitting itself right now.

Prisstina 06.26.2007 05:02 PM

read somewhere that his clan missed a family crisis meeting so someone found them in the process of checking it out.

I think I heard someone call him "The Crippler."

nature scene 06.26.2007 05:51 PM

that's fucked up right there

John Violence 06.26.2007 11:40 PM

This was a huge shock to me. I used to always watch wrestling and really liked him as a wrestler so this really is really fucked up.

I dunno, when someone ties their wife up with wire and strangles her, then smothers his sleeping son, before hanging himself. I find that a fairly surprising course of action whether I know them or not.

Maybe i'm just getting old. Who knows.

Fair enough. Agreed.

the ikara cult 06.27.2007 09:12 PM

This is awful stuff. I was always cynical to wrestling but last year i lived opposite this guy who was completely dedicated to wrestling, and everyone laughed at him (in a jokey way), but when i looked at him and realised it was his massive passion i kinda looked at it in a new light - seeing as how im never going to become a musician yet i love music, is that really different to him being so passionate about wrestling? He was really sad when Eddie Guererro died, and it made me look more into wrestling. When you look at how they portray their characters it takes alot of ability to go out and do a speech in front of a stadium in character, even if it is a 2D character, alot of them are very effective at doing it. Anyway this guy was a big fan of Chris Benoit and he always said how he was great at being a skilled wrestler rather than some bruiser, and that kinda made me look at wrestling in a new light as well. I know its off topic slightly in terms of the murders, but i dont remember there being a wrestling topic on here before

wheres the one where benoit is holding the pillow?

atsonicpark 06.30.2007 05:45 PM

anyone seen the chris benoit wiki?

it's nuts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Benoit

some dude from stamford connecticut (where the wwe is located) on wikipedia apparently posted that his wife died like 12 hours before the cops even found the body.

he was apparently just joking about it and not knowing it was true, just one of your typical wikipedia vandalizers.

now he's being investigated by the police and shit. haha.

Benoit wrestle hold killed son

By SIMON ROTHSTEIN of THE LILSBOYS
July 02, 2007

COMMENT ON THIS STORY

IN another disturbing twist on the Chris Benoit killings, it now appears the grappler murdered his seven-year-old son using his own wrestling finishing hold.
Police in Georgia are speculating that Benoit ended young Daniel's life with the Crippler Crossface – the same move that he used in almost all his matches, including when he beat Triple H for the heavyweight title at WWE WrestleMania XX.

District Attorney Scott Ballard said: "A choke hold was used to strangle the boy, rather than hands, because there's no bruising consistent with strangulation by hands."

Respected American wrestling scribe Dave Meltzer added: "The police investigators were perplexed by the nature of the bruising on Daniel, until one of them watched footage of a Benoit wrestling match, saw him using the move, and in looking closely, realized the bruising patterns on Daniel matched the application of the hold."

Toilet & Bowels 07.03.2007 04:47 AM

geat opening line by the sun though:

"WWE legend Chris Benoit spent the weekend murdering his wife and son before committing suicide on Monday, American police have said."

spent, it makes it sound so casual and pleasant
