Will The Beckham's Die in America Because...

Americans don't watch soccer? And their popularity will go with it.

k-krack 07.11.2007 12:46 AM

Plenty of Americans (throw Canadians in there, if you will) watch soccer. Not I, myself, but there is a huge audience for it, regardless of the other sports having the main control.
It's the worlds most popular sport, sir!
And above all, fuck the Beckhams. What have they ever done worth their money?

SynthethicalY 07.11.2007 12:49 AM

I think you are wrong, not many Americans think much of soccer, it is an underrated sport here.

k-krack 07.11.2007 12:49 AM

Compared to football, for sure. I'm just saying, there's probably still a great number of fans here and there.

SynthethicalY 07.11.2007 12:52 AM

Yeah, but not as much as football, or basketball.

k-krack 07.11.2007 12:56 AM

Hehe, I know, I know.
But again, fuck the Beckham's!

SynthethicalY 07.11.2007 12:57 AM

I would fuck david beckham, but I know what you mean. Oh am I going to be utterly repulsed when they arrive here in L.A. Ah I need to flee this forsaken city.

Prisstina 07.11.2007 07:49 PM

of course not. victoria beckham has america wrapped around her little bony finger.

ricechex 07.11.2007 11:47 PM

For some reason Victoria Beckham really annoys me. Fuck! She may be a nice person for real, but she's a pop droid robot.

davenotdead 07.11.2007 11:51 PM

ive never really found her attractive.

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 12:23 AM

soccer is the only sport i will ever watch. i was in paris one year and the world cup was going on and people were going mad gathered in this square with a giant TV screen turned on the world cup. it was great.

Rob Instigator 07.12.2007 09:27 AM

I barely know jack shit about David Beckham, and I have no idea who his wife is. I frankly think that 97% of americans feel this way too, besides the many idiots who follow brit tablioids and american tabloids.

they ahve been building up this has-been soccer player for years now here, trying to "break" him into the US celebrity culture. I do not think it is working.

fuck him and his stupid bitch cunt.

as far as soccer/futbol goes, if Pele' could not make americans love it, this pretty boy fucko will stand no chance whatsoever.

haha, his wife is posh spice from the spice girls. she's skinny and has no ass so i wouldn't assume you'd know who she is.

Rob Instigator 07.12.2007 09:39 AM

he is married to posh spice? the one with the birdlike piched face that looks like you could use it to carve ice sculptures? jesus fuck. double trouble on the entertainment news front!

I am so out of it!

ThePits 07.12.2007 11:57 AM

I am sooo glad the Trashams moved to the US, we might get a break from the tacky tasteless pair over here for a while........

Prisstina 07.12.2007 12:22 PM

caw!!!

SynthethicalY 07.12.2007 12:22 PM

Is that a pig's nose she stole?

pokkeherrie 07.12.2007 12:57 PM

He's not going to suffer from it... as most of the time he gets more publicity for every new haircut or interview where he reveals to wear posh' undies than he gets for whatever it is he does on the pitch (unless it's missing a penalty or receiving a red card in a major tournament perhaps).

Besides, it's definitely not the level of competetion in soccer that got him to the US in the first place... now that $250 million contract for 5 years however, hmmm.

Also, I agree with Rob Instigator and don't think it's going to make the sport any more popular in the US. It didn't work in 70s either when they brought Pele, Johan Cruyff, Franz Beckenbauer, George Best, etc to the US.
Just like Beckham they were aging stars, but each of them much bigger names than Beckham.

ThePits 07.12.2007 05:06 PM

Doesnt it worry you though to think there are so many braindead morons out there that they actually model themselves on this pair of talentless twats?

jimbrim 07.12.2007 05:21 PM

You're right about his skinny wife, but i would'nt say David Beckham is talentless at all, he's a great footballer isnt he?, and i think it's understandable that millions of people model themselves on him.

pantophobia 07.12.2007 07:18 PM

honestly the only thing that will get americans into soccer is they can get their national team to win the world cup, even runner up is not good enough for americans, then perhaps they will like it for.........umm.........maybe 4 years when they lose the next world cup

a player of his stature though, could instantly be the best in the MLS, so it might get the Galaxy the MLS cup eventually

Danny Himself 07.12.2007 07:24 PM

I couldn't give a rat's ass. Liverpool have just signed some exciting players, thats all I care about.

The Beckhams are in your hands now. Evil laugh, etc.

deathbyfeedback 07.12.2007 09:39 PM

SynthethicalY 07.13.2007 10:11 AM

Rob Instigator 07.13.2007 10:15 AM

Here is a cartoon from ESPN.com showing the impact that the Beckhams will have in American sports.

This conveys my whole idea on the whole thing. Repped.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.13.2007 07:09 PM

For those who obviously have not been paying attention, MLS has for the last four years or so, already made a footprint the American sporting landscape, they've gotten away from playing in huge (empty) stadiums, and built their own smaller, more accommodating stadiums. They are planning to expand the league by adding teams to places like San Jose, and Atlanta (which is a horrible sports city, so this is suspect), and another team in New York.

The league has amazing depth, even with out the addition of Beckham, who maybe isn't worth all the hype, and could eventually backfire on the league, but you can't doubt that there has been a lot of talk about his move here. And who knows? I don't think his play with Real Madrid this season was a fluke, he played a big part in them winning La Liga.

I love MLS, and US Soccer, and have no problem defending them, and can only hope for the best with Beckham's move, even if I don't whole heartedly support it.

Rob, you live in Houston, tell me you go and watch the Dynamo play?? Will they really build them a downtown stadium, next to Minute Maid Park, as the rumors go?

the ikara cult 07.14.2007 07:55 PM

Mclaren dumping him is the only reason he went to America cos he thought his serious career was over, and since he agreed to go everyones realised that England kinda needs him to provide a bit of experience. And how Mclaren recalled him... its kinda sad because if he was still in Europe hed be able to keep an interest in the England team but he'll never be recalled from America

That is the best interview he has ever given!

Cant think why he doesnt say much though..........

Rob Instigator 07.16.2007 09:40 AM

I have not gone to see the Dunamo play. My budget is not ready.

They play their matches at the University of Houston's stadium, which is really cool and in the area of town close to many hispanic citizens of H-town. they want to move it downtown because they are fucking greedhead assholes and they do not want to share ticket money with U of H, who pays for everything at the stadium, including employees, and servicing and maintenance.

I say FUCK the dynamo. fuck their bullshit owner's requests. he can move them out of town if he feels like. noone will give a fuck.

Yes, and it has one of the best atmospheres in all of MLS. However, this is precisely what MLS teams need, their own stadiums, in order to make a profit, this allows them to even exist. To be fair, the Dynamo belong in San Jose anyway.

Rob, you're missing an ace team play in your own back yard.
