Cats

Discuss the pointlessness of keeping domestic cats.

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 07:39 AM

pookie i am disowning you. my cats fill a void in my life.

jennthebenn 07.12.2007 07:41 AM

they make better photoshop source material than dogs, at least.

Exactly.

sonicl 07.12.2007 07:46 AM

We get visited by lots of cats, all of whom are very loveable and friendly and willing to chase pieces of grass. They are the perfect antidote to a shitty day.

Pookie 07.12.2007 07:46 AM

Sorry, I've never been a big fan of cats.

But last night we spent a couple of hours trying to protect fledgling blackbirds from the bastard cat that lives next door. He ended up killing four of them, despite our best efforts.

sonicl 07.12.2007 07:48 AM

Well blackbirds are far more useless than cats.

Unless you're a piemaker, of course.

Pookie 07.12.2007 07:50 AM

Blackbirds make the most beautiful sound, and we've been watching the fledglings since they were born.

They can't fly when they leave the nest, so they're easy prey for useless domestic animals.

It's not the same as if an animal took them for food. Cats just kill them.

Green_mind 07.12.2007 07:54 AM

Cats are not as clever as dogs, despite the cartoon propaganda that portrays the dog in a negative light.
I can talk to my dog and he understands me. Cats, do not understand or do not reserve time to bother to even try to understand.

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 07:58 AM

my cats are quite clever. i just really don't like dogs. they smell horrible, their saliva (unlike that of a cat, who have specific enzymes in their mouths) is unsanitary AND they feel the need to slobber all over your couch and lick your face, they piss in the house, they bark for no particular reason, chew up your furniture, tear up your wood floors...
i do like welsh corgis though.

jon boy 07.12.2007 07:59 AM

i like cats and i loved mine more than i love some people. some can be annoying but i like them a lot, i like there fuck you attitude.

I like dogs. If I go into a house and there's a cat and a dog there, I'll always make a fuss of the dog first.

thats because you live in bald knob.

Pookie 07.12.2007 08:12 AM

If a person had a fuck you attitude, you'd call them a (bald) knob.

jon boy 07.12.2007 08:15 AM

no i would just say they had a fuck you attitude. like a cat.

Pookie 07.12.2007 08:18 AM

Of all people, I knew Nefeli would talk sense.

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 08:19 AM

i also think weiner dogs are cute.
once i held a chihuahua and it was so warm and cuddly and it was trembling and i wanted to snuggle it in a reassuring way but i wasn't quite sure how to go about it.

sonicl 07.12.2007 08:20 AM

You secretly want to be Paris Hilton, don't you?

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 08:24 AM

how did you know?
it has always been my dream to have a broke-ass yellow weave, a wonky eye, and herpes. and i would LOVE to spend 3 weeks in a minimum security jail.

sarramkrop 07.12.2007 08:27 AM

Those little dogs are repulsive, you'd want a gigantic cat to walk all over them.

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 08:32 AM

the fact that i was like 9 years old probably had something to do with the fact that i wanted to snuggle the dog. i would feel slightly repulsed and awkward if i had to actually handle one now.

now that you mention it, it sure does. good lord, i can't imagine what that would entail.

jon boy 07.12.2007 08:39 AM

i do like dogs as well i just never had one but i would love them just as much.

pantophobia 07.12.2007 08:43 AM

my sister's chihuahua, amazingly it's not a shivering mass, but a bright and upbeat pup that wants to play

but i don't really like dogs as much anymore, i prefer cats despite never having owned one

Cantankerous 07.12.2007 08:46 AM

my cats are completely different from one another. i could tell you the whole story but it'd be a bit boring.

sarramkrop 07.12.2007 08:47 AM

A lot of people can't explain why they think that cats are such bastards either. Cats are just as sensitive as dogs, it's just that they have a more appealing way to show that side of theirs than dogs, which get too attached too quickly to their owner. They are also a hell of a lot cleaner and disciplined animals, and this makes them funnier to watch when they are being goofy. I do like dogs too, just not as much.

jon boy 07.12.2007 08:47 AM

did something awful happen to you in your childhood involving a cat pookie? you can tell me...

sonicl 07.12.2007 08:53 AM

It's a totally pointless thing to like, but one of the things that I like about dometic cats is they are, basically, small tigers. I find that quite appealing.

jon boy 07.12.2007 08:54 AM

woof woof! did you hide did you aye?

sarramkrop 07.12.2007 08:57 AM

How many dogs have been chewing on a small baby's head compared to the amount of cats that might have done a similar thing?

Green_mind 07.12.2007 08:57 AM

I love chihuahuas

sonicl 07.12.2007 09:01 AM

Although I was bitten by a dog when I was about six, I've never really been scared of them, but I've had enough cats dig their claws into me to know that they're really not to be trusted.
