what drugs you use when going to SY
what kinda drugs do you use when you go to a concert of Sonic Youth.
Or what drugs you use when listening to Sonic Youth?? I like to smoke a big joint. Once in Amsterdam when I went to Sonic Youth the first time in my life 1999 i took an xtc pill, wow man I was dancing and slamdanced the whole concert through, weird man but kinda cool. Nowadays when i go see them i just smoke pot and drink beer. |
A couple of over-the-counter ibuprofen if I've got a bit of a headache or something, but usually it'd just be a couple of mugs of strong coffee, to make sure I don't drop off during the show. I get tired in the evenings - a mixture of age and the old M.E, don't you know.
Why can't more bands play in the afternoon? |
so...far...speed...and...ectasy...a...part...from. .the...booze...and..pot...of..course
|
Hugs, not drugs! :)
|
Sonic Youth is my drug of choice.
|
I imagine I would get a little stoned before. Although, of any show I would want to go see stoned it would be the Flaming Lips. That reminds me, I wish I had gone to see the laser Pink Floyd show they had at the local planetarium a few years ago. :(
|
this is really stupid but...
one time i saw a local stoner rock band i didn't like very much and i got stoned before the show (and i NEVER get stoned, so it was a rare occassion all the way around) and they blew me away. i mean, i know that's kinda the point of stoner rock, but i don't think drugs should have to be there to enjoy a band, but ... i dunno.... i imagine anything sounds decent if you're stoned enough, but i think if you really like a band (like with sonic youth), you should combine the experience with some acid... if you can get some.. i've never been able to find any around here.. |

Are you even conscious of your existence? |

This is true! Other than coffee and cigarettes...but that doesn't really count. |

*writes down "only...when...i...pee...and...think...of...yo u" for later use as a comeback insult*

but,...its...true
|
coffee
|
no drugz. i'd rather have a good meal.
|
A combination of good coffee and a perfect hash joint.
|
If you need drugs to like something then it aint any good.
|
True, but if it's good, a doobie can only make it better. ;)

perhaps you only get the true experience of something through altered states of consciousness ie. a drug experience. just saying, what you said was a bold statement. the romantic poets experimented w/drugs (coleridge was fond of nitrous oxide), and countless other artists after them... |
yeah thats a fair point. I wouldnt ever do anything strong for personal reasons but i realise how drugs have resulted in good things.
I remember watching that BBC documentary about Sun Ra a while ago, and all the people who worked with him were saying how drugs were essential to break the shackles of conventional thought, but Sun Ra himself didnt need them because he had broken them many years previously. I like the idea that there is a pure frequency of the mind that doesnt need drugs to become opened and receptive. |
yeah, but then people like sun ra and keiji haino practice abstinence from all intoxicants
edit: too slow |
in 1995 lsd, now nothing
|
And those people are gifted with an ability that 99% of us will never encounter, and as such are able to devote all their energies to their craft because it is their calling. Its kind of an ideal for me, id love to be that gifted in one particular field, but alas i am not.

yeah, but drugs won't make you talented though either |

...is another reason i dont do drugs. But then again James Joyce is probably my favourite writer right now, and he was an alcohol binger, so the old classifications of "drugs" are kinda unrealistic arent they. |
i don't know, alcohol is kind of separate from other drugs. for the record, i think drugs are kind of rubbish, aside from booze, which is ok.

alcohol makes people behave violently, causes massive amounts of damage and pain year on year. I love that Streets song "The irony of it all". Sets things out pretty much perfectly |
There's nothing more irritating than someone who can't handle alcohol.

i don't even think the cats in acid mothers temple do anything anymore. one of my bandmates tried to do some *things* with them and they said that they didn't get down like that any longer. |

What is Acid mothers temple like anyway, ive never had the pleasure. |
couple years back? anything.
now? a pint of lager. |

... or any drug for that matter. Back to green Crunchy. |

it's like having the ability to channel the cosmos with the pointiest point of your fingernail and fling it all back and forth with beautiful discretion. then there's the whole music part which is just fucking awesome. |
Nothing.

Peyoteeeeeeeee!!!!!!
|
Speaking of drugs, I have just realised that after each time I have a smokey, I begin to unroll the left over spliff, to examine if any tobacco down there contains any magic, usually I'm happy with only seeing one fine fragment specimen.

Thats good enough for me, i'll see you at singularity. |

Don't let Castaneda fool you. Whatever happened to the idea of taking it with an indian by a campfire? |
Oh trust me, indians and campfires are almost always involved.
|
