I think I'd go for the people who think Minor Threat is better than Fugazi first. Throw in people who wear Grateful Dead t-shirts, people that called new "thrash metal" hardcore (like Job For a Cowboy), people who are REALLY big into Ska (just being big into the Specials isn't enough), and people who think that SY do nothing but make noise (naturally).

i'd probably go for those that claim the music they listen to is indie rock when they've never heard of dinosaur jr and sonic youth etc...

I'd round up all of the people who say that Sonic Youth haven't done anything good since the '80s (or the '90s as that grunge/alternative contingent exists as well), but who haven't actually listened to anything since. Then all Young Country, Nu Metal, and post-Epitaph/Green Day/Blink 182 "punk" fans.

Country music is good. I mean the typical country that you may see on the country music channel is pretty shit and more comical than anything, but Johnny Cash, Ryan Adams, Bob Dylan (Nashville Skyline etc), to mention a few, are great. The new Bright Eyes album is very country tinged too - you like that dude, right?

I started to make a list and then decided I could summarise it with: everyone except people I like (which doesn't necessarily mean the same as people that agree with me).

-Other people as snobbish as me but only having a narrow taste in music. My friend burnt a CD of pop punk she listened to in high school and it was brutal, and she would only go on about how deep the lyrics were.

I really don't have a problem with too many people that aren't interested in music. They can listen to anything becuase they don't feel like taking the time to expose themselves to more music.

1) I don't really care how you actually feel about the 2 bands. What gets me is the people that like Minor Threat better have to shove it down my throat, or tell me repeatedly that the only Fugazi song that they like is Waiting Room (which coincidentally, is probably the only one they've heard.) Also, most people who like Minor Threat better tend to be homophobic numbskulls who have way too much testosterone and think music that you can't mosh to is "gay." Actually, the reason most people who like Minor Threat more give me when they have to point out that they hate Fugazi is that "Fugazi is gay because they tell people not to mosh and fight."

2) Well, there are a lot of retarded people who define hardcore as "guttural screaming, chugga chugga guitar, and double bass drums." To me hardcore is just breakneck speed punk. Not juvenile metal crap. Just juvenile rebel crap.

I'm not so much a music snob so much as someone who hates annoying scene kids. No matter what the scene.

I generally turn my other cheek to people's music taste unless I don't like that person as a person. The music snob only really peeks the its ugly head when someone says something.

i've met way more retarded people who are shoving straight edge, veganism, left wing politics, and telling people what to do. from the press and fugazi themselves, i get the feeling that most minor threat fans are in prison for beating old ladies, but all minor threat fans i have ever met are totally cool, non macho/violent types. and most fugazi fans i have met are uptight assholes.

furthermore, hardcore changed in the late 80's, you're confusing hardcore punk with hardcore, two different things, you can like one and not the other.

besides, most people who like sonic youth deserve to be shot and i still listen to them.

Genre confusion blows. . . I've heard the title hardcore applied to so many different things lately, and now post-hardcore, as well as punk and post-punk that it just seems like all these words no longer have any meaning.

I listen to Fugazi, I'm vegan, but I'm not straight edge. The members of Fugazi are the opposite to that. I like Minor Threat alot too, but Fugazi are leagues 'better'.

I'm none too concerned with what other people enjoy. Good on them for liking stuff, I say.

I agree. Fact is we are all equally snobbish in our own way, and so id never call anyone a music snob or accept the idea of me being one.
I think id also throw anyone who ever attempts to define a music snob or call somebody one into my Kooks room of death.

In short, anyone who is "into" music because they want to buy into the image it portrays, rather than because they actually like the music.
