anyone here play rpg's?
 

I'm a dork, all I mainly play are rpg's and puzzle games.. with the occassional fighting game (Capcom 2D games but I like Soul Calibur and I'm really good at Smash Brothers).. I hate first person shooters and sports games... I also love games like Zelda (which is kinda an RPG), Ico, Shadow of the Collossus (which have lots of puzzle and adventure elements in them), and my all time favorite game is Super Metroid... I also love Treasure, the best game company ever (Gunstar Heroes!!!!!) and I love all those flying shooting games (Gradius, Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga, etc.)....

But anyway, yeah, my favorite genre is definitely the RPG.. was wondering who else loved 'em... lately, I've been playing Grandia and Dragon Quest VIII... I've beaten most of the Final Fantasy games and tons of other Square games (XENOGEARS!!!!!!!!, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, the crappy Chrono Cross, etc... I tried to get into Kingdom Hearts, but it's fucking terrible!)... I also really like the Breath of Fire series. Oh yeah, I jsut beat this awesome game called Odin Sphere which is some kind of weird 2D Action/Adventure/Strategy/RPG/Beat-em-up or something.. it was amazing.. uhh... so yeah.

I'd say my top 10 is:

1. Xenogears
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Super Marior RPG
4. Breath of Fire II
5. Final Fantasy VI
6. Secret of Mana
7. Beyond Oasis
8. Phantasy Star IV
9. Final Fantasy IX
10. Landstalker

Something like that...

I don't really have a top ten but Final Fantasy and Castlevania is always good.
Lemme see... Fable was pretty awesome too.
And Zelda ofcourse.

Earthbound is my favorite RPG ever. It's easily an obtained rom. It's for SNES

I don't know, but I played a lot of pokemon before my gameboy passed away.

I still play Pokemon.

FUCK YEAH EARTHBOUND!!! i want to actually own it, but it's like $90.. i got the old trading cards from it though.. the scratch and sniff ones...

And castlevania: symphony of the night is amazing.

haha, Xenogears is my favorite too! Also I like Vagrant story, parasite eve 2, legend of mana, lunar 1 & 2, front mission 3 and some other old stuff. I spent a lot of time near my tv set in late '90 - early '00... damn, I miss this days.

I played Morrowind far too much, but I won't pay $50 plus over $50 (to get all the stuff) for Oblivion.

I also used to play Gothic II. (in my humble opinion, the greatest RPG of all times), Morrowind and Diablo II. like crazy.

Oh, and there was this marvellous RPG game called Albion that was something like an introduction to role playing games for me and caused many sleepless nights for the then-teenage _slavo_ :

i'm a RPG nutter, i love Final Fantasy, i have just completed the new one for playstation - FF13 and i'm in the middle of playing the latest one on Nintendo DS, its Final Fantasy 3, its fuckin right good, its real old school, its the Final Fantasy that only ever came out in Japan and now they have released it on DS for the first time ever in Europe. its keeping me awake many a night i tell ya, i litteraly have "tunnel vision" from the 2 screens. its good though, i'm trying to give up getting stoned day in day out and this is keeping my mind off it nicely. i havent been stoned in weeks thanks to it.


well worth a check out if yr a Nintedo/RPG fan.

Loved a few of the Zelda's also. i'm such a geek, i have a Link t-shirt... this one..

Played Neverwinter Nights two years ago.
Now it's just mmorpgs for me, WoW and Anarchy Online.

Man, I'm 10 hours into Dragon Quest VIII. This game is awesome...

I'm really looking forward to Persona 3.. I wish the Shin Megami Tensei games were cheaper to come by.. Nocturne goes for like $100.. fuck.

I've always wanted to play Oblivion and I'm excited about Fallout 3 but I never have the cash or hardware to play them.

But apart from those, I'm not really into rpg games. All the stereotypical anime gay shit make me hate rpgs.

I installed Oblivion on my computer just to try it a couple of days ago but my video card didn't like it...Morrowind is fucking fantastic I find

"anime gay shit". What? I dunno what RPG you've seen or been playing, but I've never played one with "anime gay shit". Unless you've been secretly playing dating game simulators or something.. the anime gay shit stays in Japan 99% of the time..

Inhuman, I think you're confusing Final Fantasy 3 with Final Fantasy 6... 6 was released for the SNES AS 3... the actual Final Fantasy 3 was never released here until last year on the DS... though final Fantasy 6 (again, the SNES Final Fantasy 3) was released on the Game Boy Advance about 4 months ago with a new dungeon and shit.. pick it up.

Also, what's the longest you guys have put into an RPG? It took me 74 hours to do everything in Xenogears...

OH, and Legend of Mana.. I have that too.. it actually is really rare.. I got a copy for $10.. it goes for $60 now... haha.. I actually own every game Square released on the PS1 except Tobal, Parasite Eve 2, and Vagrant Story.. but I'll get them...

Good call on legend of mana, I always tried to make the ideal map that could fit the entire storyline in.

hmmm, about the final fantasies; I have FF3 on SNES which was released over 10 years ago, and FF6 on PS1 which is the same thing with tonnes of additions. I really should get a gameboy...

final fantasy VI is the best rpg. without a doubt.
for those that grew up with great rpg's, you should feel blessed.
i miss playing all those classic games for the first time.

My friend plays EVE online which is pretty interesting in a completely academic/economic way.

Soul Blazer; now that was quite the game. Neat idea with defeating the batch of enemies, step on that thing they come out of, a building appears in the city, and you talk to people in the building to complete the storyline. I love it.

I've played WoW for a while and it was pretty fun, but you to put too much time in it to get good that really sucked all the fun out of it.

oh my god!!!! xenogears is my absolute favorite game of all fucking time! jesus!

other than that, it's Lunar: the silver star, Breath of Fire (the first three), FF7, FF8, FF3, Secret of Mana, and the Shining Force games. i actually just sold my wii (and replaced it with the iphone) because there were no good rpgs coming out.

i never played PE2, but always wanted to.

anyone ever play any of the xenosaga games? i played the first and wanted to break it.
