The Frogs

As far as I can tell, these guys have never been mentioned on the forum before.
I've been listening to It's Only Right and Natural for the first time and I must say, I quite enjoy it. Anyone else?

Pookie 07.31.2007 10:04 AM

Unless they're Irish, female, and pretty, I'm not interested.

atsonicpark 07.31.2007 10:05 AM

i always liked them.

Are you joking? I mean, are you being serious? I can't believe people think you should have a laugh at sort of subject matter. Outrageous!

Tokolosh 07.31.2007 10:25 AM

You obviously don't get it.

Satire

sarramkrop 07.31.2007 10:30 AM

Is that some kind of joke? 'Cause I don't get it at all. Are you mad? Are you having a laugh?

finding nobody 07.31.2007 11:26 AM

I used to know where to find some Frogs rarities, but I'm too lazy to track down the link.

Ok.
For a minute there, I thought you were accusing me of being a homophobic racist woman beating cunt. :)

I'd appreciate it if you could get off your lazy arse and find that link for me StevOK.

evollove 08.01.2007 08:35 AM

I saw them several years ago.

The presentation was so dry that few people really knew how to take them. Obviously, there wasn't much laughter. I can see by this thread that the show was not unique in this regard.

Пятхъдесят Шест 08.01.2007 02:47 PM

I saw them open for Smashing Pumpkins in 96 (I think). I was in 6th grade and it was my first concert.

I will listen to them every now and again.

'I'm only in it for the money, I don't give a fuck about the fanssss'

Good video of The Frogs playing with Billy Corgan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SXnuPrEZm4

I think they give him a raspberry. It's amazing to see Billy as such a young happy whippersnapper.

terminal pharmacy 08.01.2007 06:48 PM

OK, a lot easier to find than I thought. Enjoy.

dazedcola 08.02.2007 11:18 AM

I liked Starjob alot. Full of great songs. I like how they described it as a concept album in under 30 minutes.

Washing Machine 08.02.2007 01:14 PM

I was gonna say, they're the band that kept opening for the pumpkins throughout the 90's

atsonicpark 05.24.2009 05:38 PM

One of the best bands ever!! I just got back into them after not listening for years and now I'm hooked.

narlus 05.24.2009 10:32 PM

_It's Only Right And Natural_ is a classic...such an amazing record.

noisereductions 05.25.2009 10:06 AM

The Frogs are excellent. I'm pretty sure that HOPSCOTCH was still their last album. And probably my favorite.

It worked back when I posted it. It's not my fault you were too slow. :p

EyeballGrowth 05.26.2009 02:10 AM

The Frogs are both extraordinarily talented songwriters. Starjob, My Daughter the Broad, and their most recent one " Hopscotch Lollipop Sunday Surprise ". All excellent works. One of my favorite songs they have ever written is " The Most Powerful Man In The World " from the Last Hard Men LP. The Frogs never recorded it and Sebastian Bach from Skid Row does the lead vocals on the only recorded version of it.

Have you ever heard their debut album, " The Frogs "? It's so different yet so awesome. It's sounds like Devo and the Cure had a noisy baby, and the lyrics aren't even slightly filthy. I've had " Ocean Tide " and " Jesus Child " on a constant loop all semester

I know it's a bit late... like almost 2 years, but thanks.

It was a good laugh reading Sarra's posts again. :-)

atsonicpark 05.26.2009 07:22 AM

No... I rememeber back in the day I used to always look thru their official site and they had tons of cassettes you could order straight thru them, along with the TP vid. I feel like I saw a clip of it somewhere though. Was there a clip of it on VIEWPHORIA? Or was that just a live segment? I can't remember..

atsonicpark 05.26.2009 07:39 AM

There are clips on youtube.

The casettes (aka the "made-up songs collections") I've heard are amazing, btw.

noisereductions 05.26.2009 07:53 AM

Yeah! MADE UP SONGS! That's it.
I think they also sold a few live ones, and Demo versions of some of the albums, etc.

so... are they even still a band anymore? The production on HOPSCOTCH LOLLIPOP was amazing, and then I feel like they vanished.

atsonicpark 05.26.2009 07:56 AM

According to Wikipedia, they're playing with the Breeders soon...?!

EyeballGrowth 05.26.2009 11:46 AM

Every Frogs album I've ever owned I bought from them on their old website.

Oh and some of the footage on Vieuphoria is from Toy Porno, like the part where they're playing Ocean Tide and Jimmy falls down on the floor screaming
