Yeah thats very true |
Not my favorite but still a nice spin once in a while. And it was the one that started it all. SONIC LIFE! :p:p:p
one of my favourites, thats why im screamingskull
lot of humidity in this album. very dank
The majority of it is boring, a crap follow up to Dirty. Songs i do love - Winners blues, Screaming skull, Doctors orders, Tokyo Eye, Sweet shine, Quest for the cup.
Probably my least favorite album by SY.
Sorry, it just ain't mah thang yo. |
Very good for the most part. A few tracks are skippable but overall a solid album.
There was a thread like this about two weeks ago though. |
I like this record. I think its a good way to explain the jump from dirty to washing machine. Some of the tracks on EJTNS have them fooling around with noise and wah wah just not for very long. On washing Machine they just expanded upon those parts. I can def hear a bit of washing machine in EJTNS.
many people don't like it. i do it has a lot of plain SY rocksongs on it. i mean it doens't always have to be 19 minute long songs.
i really like this album rather than NYCG&F
i love it. this album has such a different vibe compared what sy had done be4 and after.
I love this album, but it is one of my least favorite albums by sonic youth. I'm not sure what i dont like about it though.
i love "starfield road". the guitars are pretty sick on it. i like the drumming on this album.
"sweet shine" is one of kim's best. |
yep. sweet shine is a prime example of great kim is
I like it a lot.
It's definitely one of my least favorites of Sonic Youth.
It's still great, but I don't find myself listening to it much. Sweet Shine is my favorite. Duh. |
I put this one somewhere in the middle. Good, but not one of their best. In many ways, it marked a stylistic transition for the band. Before it was released, I believe Lee described it in the Sonic Death fanzine as having a lot more open space than their previous work. That's probably true. Bull in the Heather is one of their best songs and Starfield Road is great.
probably my favorite sy album. the production is great. hard to believe they worked with butch vig (dirty, et al)

i'm the exact opposite: i love this album but i detest "Bull In The Heather". |

I agree but I am still a fan of dirty and its "harshness" but EJSTANS is more to my liking in every way. |
I think it was a really good album for Kim. She was at her evocative best in some of those songs. But the problem is that Thurston was out to lunch on Expiramental Jet Set. Most of his songs on that album are complete throwaways. He saved his best songs from that period for his solo album and Washing Machine (which came out very soon after Jet Set - Washing Machine STOPMPS Expiramental Jet Set). And Lee contributed no songs (?) on it...

AHH, THIS OLD CHESTNUT. i
i think its the pporest by far. its the only sy album i was dissappointed with on first listen. dont get me wrong, it contains killer tracks but as a whole its my least fav sy record. ive been shot before because of this!!!!
