Daydreaming Down Under
http://decomposingtrees.blogspot.com...am-nation.html
OMFG SONIC YOUTH, DAYDREAM NATION, AUSTRALIAN TOUR I don't even think finding out about Arcade Fire's tour made me this excited. Apparently a Sonic Youth tour is going to be announced in the coming days. From what I was told they'll be touring the state capitals in the third week of February playing Daydream Nation with The Scientists in support playing their album Blood Red River. It's pretty much the 'Don't Look Back' series that has toured Europe and North America. They were rumoured for Laneway but that did not eventuate so I'm keenly awaiting things. Even though I will be overseas when tickets go on sale and will be living in Canberra I ABSOLUTELY MUST GET A TICKET!!! Early 2008 is shaping up to be an amazing time for music (and an empty time for my wallet). UPDATE #1: According to the Don't Look Back website there are going to be many more bands playing their classic albums in Australia and New Zealand. Full details will be made on November 1st with tickets on sale November 16th. We can only wait with anticipation. UPDATE #2: I just remembered that Sydney Festival calender also gets announced on November 1st and Don't Look Back says from mid-January 2008. I don't think it's a coincidence. |

i've heard the scientist can be boring live, good they were kicking up the jams when you saw them.
|
Come to DC and play Daydream if you guys aren't burned out on it like I thought you were!!!!!!!!
|
Kim G is in Adelaide for the Adelaide Festival of Arts in Feb-March 08 for her visual art. The Adelaide Festival Director was also the director of the Sydney Festival.
|
cool
|
hey
tickets...when and where and how much? before i wet my pants. sonic youth, pj harvey and interpol in the same week? |
I'm so excited! The other two bands playing are Low - Things We Lost In The Fire and Died Pretty - Doughboy Hollow. No word on who their support acts are.
|
Cool, hopefully we'll get a Triple-J broadcast out of this.
|
I really didn't expect they'd go on with the DDN gigs, but that's good news for the antipodeans.
|
Lovely for the Australians, i thought that the London ones would be the last gigs of the run. But they need to get off and start making some new music!

agreed |
Yeah, but that's easy to say for us who've already seen the DDN gigs.
Plus I liked the DDN shows I've seen about ten times better than the RR shows I've seen, so I'm just hoping they'll come up with an album that is entirely different. |
well thats because Daydream Nation is 10x better than every album released this year at least.
If they took some time to perform in Aus i dont mind, as long as they get back together eventually to make music. Its odd being a youngish Sonic Youth Fan, when i got into Nurse was when i realised they were the greatest band for me, but now theyre gonna wait around a while |
Thank God they're finally coming to australia with this.
I've only seen the youth once, and apparently that was a shitty gig. And i loved it! |
YES!!! THEY ARE COMING BACK!!! OH GLORIOUS DAY!! OH WONDERFUL FEELINGS!!
Yay! |
This is GLORIOUS NEWS!!!
What a week for gig announcements. Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey and Augie March. The best 3 things in music. |
daydram nation 2007 = proper world tour.
|
Yes indeedeo. It's time to break out my "Beck wishes he was Thurston" shirt again.
|
Two dates in sydney. Hell Yes.
|
Tickets on sale for Sydney next Wednesday the 14th Nov guys!
|
I am over the moon with the news, found out about the tour last week.
Playing at The Festival of Perth on Saturday Feb 23rd, tickets will be on sale next week. Christmas has come early for me, I am an over excited 30+ year old. :) |
does anybody know when tickets for the auckland show go on sale?
|
Welcome to SY gossip! Try a google search, rachel.
|
i've already scoured the internet, but to no avail. i was just wondering if anyone on here knew more than i did.
|
yes yes i heard the news the other week!
how damn exciting i cant wait i get to see battles and bjork too wooooo |
Come to Sydney show, Dan!
|
it appears that the auckland show has been moved to the bruce mason centre... a fully seated venue. how random.
|
So no standing? That sucks!
Good thing Enmore has standing. Tickets for Aukland are on sale Wednesday too I have read. Get em through Ticketek. |
sweet. thanks for that.
yeah, the st. james pretty much burned down, or the ceiling collapsed, or something a while back. it looks like it's not going to be finished in time since they moved it. it's kinda weird moving it to the bruce mason. maybe they can take the seats out, i have no idea. |
I am sooo disappointed SY have missed Brisbane for the DDN tour. DDN was when I first got into SY & the first time I heard the intro to Teenage Riot is seared into my brain as one of the most exciting music moments in my 20 odd years of music watching & listening. Yeah I know, I can do the road trip or jump on a plane.....
|
I'm so excited about these concerts.
Thank you so much Sonic Youth for being kind enough to endow this privilege on your Australian fans. It is very much appreciated. I cannot wait until February. |
Woody, where you at?
|
hmm, so today it the 14th.
i would've assumed the tickets for auckland are on sale at 9am... they don't seem to be yet. ZEROpumpkins person - do you remember where you saw that tickets for auckland went on sale today? was it definitely through ticketek? |
13 minutes till tickets, but i can't help but notice that only the 18th is up at the ticketek website. i'm turning up half an hour late for work so i can get these tickets so they better not put the second show up when i'm at work...
|

Got me tickets though, me and a friend for the front. YEAH!! |
Im glad you Antipodeans get to see the DDN gig.
Get Men At Work as support! |
Are they actually going to do two shows in Melbourne? Because the second show is not listed on any live guide, the venue's website or even ticketmaster. I was relying on there being a show on the 21st because I bought PJ Harvey tickets yesterday which are for the 20th and it seems Sonic Youth are playing only one show in Melbourne on the same day. nooooo
|
someone is a dumbass for scheduling pj harvey and sonic youth on the same day.
