Yeah I think it could be a good idea (there's lots of things that could have been added to the Whitey Album reissue but weren't), but I personnally think they should reissue Sonic Death and Made In USA first, those album are masterpiece, it's a shame they're out-of-print

Reissues as the self titled one or the Whitey Album one are not really deluxe reissues, as these albums were "unfindable" for a long time...

What's the difference between a deluxe reissue and a reissue witha bunch of bonus songs?

Deluxe reissues are reissues of albums that are still available... Reissues as the self titled one make those albums available again

I would love a SY reissue like those REM last editions: CD + a DVD with performance footage and/or documentals/interviews according with the cd.

I'd love for them to reissue Master DIK too, there are some other tongue in cheek things from that era floating around that could also be added.

Master-Dik is crap. Just because it exisits doesn't mean it should be remastred.

master-dik isn't hard to find, so if it's just a copy you're looking for, ebay it.

as for the extra stuff, that's always nice to have.

I'd like to see a Masterdik CD too. I know it's crappy, but that doesn't stop me from loving it.

I can't imagine that there's many outtakes that they could add though. I can just see the advert now:

anyway wasnt the master tapes of that and the sister album recorded over because the youth ran out of tape and forgot to go to the local shop to ge some just before recording and then realised it was a sunday so the tape store would be shut anyway (this was the 80s). they searched high and low and couldnt find any other tapes to use so they recorded over those... ive been there, i know the feeling... 10 minutes before a grand prix and you have that feeling in the pits of your stomach that you forgot to buy some magnetic tape... the search for a crap thing hat you will never watch again to tape over.... sellotape up that lug and recycle!!!!!!

I know it's not hard to find. I've had it on vinyl for like ten years. I have a rip of it also. I'd just like to see more obscure SY stuff make it into the bins in expanded form. When they reissued SONIC YOUTH I already owned the original CDEP and the original Vinyl, but I loved that they expanded it with super early live material and new liner notes. That really made it worth it, and I think exposed a lot of casual fans to something they maybe didn't even know existed, because they weren't hardcore collectors like a lot of us are.

And I just think it would be an awesome cosmic joke for SY to actually reiusse MASTER-DIK and add a bunch of bonus experiments and expanded liners to it as if it were this landmark lost album. That just seems like a very cheeky Youthful thing to do. I mean, imagine the reviews!

The Sonic Youth remaster was worth every penny. Not only does it sound better than every other album but tracks like "Destroyer" need to be out there.

Agree totally... I mean the EP itself I had heard a million times, and will always love... but that live stuff is so amazing. Those were some serious gems that got unearthed.

That's why I like the idea of a Master-Dik LP... who knows what kind of studio fuckery they have in the vaults from that era? The really far out shit for the serious collectors.

silver sessions should be reissued too. not so easy to find it (bought it from interenet somewhere, never got it!). i want original copy.

The bonus tracks for SILVER SESSION could be "Silver Train" and "Silver Rocket (Take 6)"

master dik is great but t is just like 3-4 songs. why re-issue an EP?

SONIC YOUTH was an EP.

I had the sonic youth cassette and it had the first side backwards on the second side. it feels more like an album.

master dik is basically a 12" single, not an EP

Well let's be frank... this is all just wishful thinking, man. But I would like to see that material in print, remastered on CD is alls I'm sayin'.

There's lots of material floating around the Ciccone concept that weren't included on the reissue... For instance, this track called "*", the band version of Burnin' Up, or the whole '86 Peel Session that was pretty much in that same spirit... So I think a Master-Dik reissue would be a good complement to the Whitey Album. Well, I don't know

I completely agree. I remember sonic death was always knocking around in hmv but I never touched it for years. I could only ever get made in usa on cassette. never saw it on cd. master dik is one release I've never gotten my hands on

I was wrong about the bonus tracks (sadly)... but I should have my CD copy in 2-3 days. Can't wait to see the reissue packaging (hopefully expanded liner notes?)
