You should think about getting a free torrent program.

It's estimated that 62% of the people that downloaded In Rainbows didn't pay anything for it, so that sort of takes the sting out of some of the criticism Radiohead is getting for pulling the download.

you should consider snatching the DVD version torrented on dime in case you missed it, quality is (quite obviously) much better and the whole thing isn't THAT big, probably less annoying to get it this way than saving/converting youtube vids :)

now, instead of having to pay 40 pounds for the LP, and pulling my hair out because i can't seem to get torrents to work properly on my computer, could someone please do me a kindness and just upload the album. not the live album, although i do appreciate it, just the regular studio album. thank you, and now i need to go get my cat out of the coat closet before he destroys something.

I know you didn't ask me for my opinion, so I didn't bother giving it. I simply stated a fact of life: In rainblows. If you enjoy the album, though, more power to you. Nothing wrong with gettin it for free.

Regarding Radiohead "slaving over their music and giving people the option to take it for free" 3 things: 1) The whole album is rushed and shitty, so they might feel like charging a flat price for it would've alienated people, 2) On a major label, they'd only make like $1 per CD sold, so the fact that they sold it themselves means that if someone pays $20 for it, that'll completely make up for the 10 people who didn't pay for it at all, and 3) Radiohead don't need the money anyway. Some people will say, "Oh, this just proves Radiohead isn't greedy!" Greed isn't the point; they're all multi-millionaires, and they're collectively not going to make much money off this record to make a difference either way -- touring and t-shirts will be where they get the big cheese. Music isn't "work", it should be fun, it shouldn't be something to fulfill a contract... I have fun making music, it'd be cool if people wanted to give me money for it since I spend so much time refining it, but the greatest joy to me is just that people hear it period. Despite Radiohead being a band that isn't very good, at least they did the right thing in this case. I sure as hell would be pissed if I had paid $10-15 for this album.

Oh, it's this album. ahaha. I've usually been somewhat anti-Radiohead. But on the odd chance I listen to the radio I've caught a song or two and think "Fuck, that was pretty cool. Who's that?" and then it's announced as Radiohead. So, I am finally on their Myspace now checking out In Rainbows and don't mind what I hear at all. So I come on here and search Radiohead, and this thread comes up. When I'd already been looking at this thread prior to venturing over to Myspace.

I have to write that I agree with Adam's logic, specifically his points 1), 2) & 3).
He expresses the same things I've thought to myself.

It's not that In Rainbows is particularly bad, at least not atrociously so, but they have done better. But in comparison to what else there is out there (and Adam will disagree with me on this part) it's pretty good all in all.

in rainbows is good, solid. it's not the greatest record i've ever heard, but you know. that's just like uhhhhhh...my opinion, MAN.

i think its decent, i havnt loved radiohead tho since hail to the thier came out, they peaked with kid a.

in rainbows is a good album. its clouded by a weak second disc, bar 2 songs, its pretty poor.

radiohead have released stuff which , lets be honest, is not the norm, its not immediatly chart friendly, not immediatly palatable to general public but yet they seem to sell truckloads and sell out tours of stadiums the world over...... they deserve respect for making their music with no limitations and still get the world at their feet...... great band but i still dont reckon they have peaked yet.

I'm not really into their other stuff, but In Rainbows is quite listenable. It doesn't sound all dreary English art-wank.
