I actually like Love and Rockets quite a lot. Good shit. Someone freaked out when they saw I had Resurrection Hex T-Shirt. I won't tell you who. It would make him seem gay.

Kundalini Express is a pretty awesome track. I haven't been too impressed with everything else I've heard from them.

Certainly no Bauhaus.

I've been a fan since the 80's, along with pretty much everything else descended from Bauhaus (ie: Peter Murphy, Dali's Car, Tones on Tail / L&R).

as clone said, I think that Tones on Tail might be better, but I've always loved Love & Rockets.

Bauhaus was dark and moody and after the split with Murphy, the rest of the band wanted to go "psychedelic".

Seriously though, Tones On Tail felt like a natural evolution out of Bauhaus while Love and Rockets were much more a calculated shot at the mainstream.

Dali's Car fucking kicks ass. Way better than Love and Rockets and actually better than most of Peter Murphy's solo career too.

Create and Melt is one of my favorite songs done by Peter Murphy.

i saw peter murphy like three years ago, it was like lestat playing bon jovi in a small place. it had it's moments, though, i did enjoy the show.

I have the LP and the 12".
I loved it at the time, but it has dated in a not-so-great way.
I can still enjoy it for nostalgic reasons, but Mick Karn's fretless bass is a little over the top. Still, it's a pretty distinct album.

I know what you're saying about it dating, but I really think it did so the second they were done recording it. Even in the '80s I thought it had a dinstinctively '80s feel to it, but in a good way. It definitely feels rather canned, but it's an arty sort of canned, like a Warhol print. So for me it continues to date well. It's just the contemporary bands who try intentionally to ape this sort of sound that bug me.

I have a soft spot for Mick Karn. The guy is a formidable bassist.
I am also a huge Japan fan and I don't care who knows it.

Yes, Japan for me was the band that made me come to my American post-punk pigfucker terms with the fact that all British art-fag new wave wasn't really as bad as I thought.
