i'm leaving the project i've been playing bass guitar for the last 6 months.

i've made the decision but i don't know in which context to tell, at least, the singer. it's mostly HER band. HER songs. she's the face, etc.
i feel like it's gone too far...
Ii don't know what to do, really...

Savage Clone 02.08.2008 04:38 PM

Tell her straight, and tell her one-on-one.

i feel like i need a context to let the whole crew know...
by "one-on-one" you mean...details?

girlgun 02.08.2008 04:43 PM

you could send her an email that says:

"people change
sorry."

i like when i get that! it's not cowardly at all and oh so respectful. ;)

good luck, love. handle it in a way that you'd respect being told.

you mean the pop band you posted pictures of?

say "it's not you, it's me..."

no no sorry, that was a breakup joke.

hm. don't make it personal. just say that you have other musical interests and you can still be friends. which is true, isn't it?

I meant one-on-one as in not in front of the other people.
If it's going to be awkward.
Otherwise just call a "band meeting" and tell everybody at once if you think it won't be a volatile situation. I'm still friends with most people I've played with; even people we have kicked out of bands in the past. It's always best if you can do these things calmly and amicably.

contrelefuckingsexisme 02.08.2008 04:48 PM

thanks.
:(
i'll see what happens.

i think we were never friends.
i mean, her personality is mostly the reason why i want to get the fuck out...

ha ha ha ok.

still, be diplomatic.

and by this, i mean lie. :)

no need to offend people. it's not like the internet, where we get away with it on a daily basis...

"it's not you, it's me..."

you have different musical interests and it's been fun and you thank everyone but you gotta move on.

of course if you detest the bitch you could always hit her with a brick. but the consequences could be problematic...

i think i'd feel a LOT more confortable if i talked about it in front of everyone. anyway, i'll see what happens. if she speaks to me one of these days...the thing is she's my neighbour and we don't even talk to each other. i think she suspects i'm sick of it all...

she could, you know, be using you, for your bass skills, but without love. :(

hahahaha!
yeah...wish i could.
but, yeah. i was thinking about saying something like that...because that's actually what's bothering me. i don't feel confortable anymore.

contrelefuckingsexisme 02.08.2008 04:56 PM

i think she needs to have all male band mates.

oh... a susanita!

run, mafalda, run...

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 05:45 PM

Why not just tell her the truth? With decency, that is.

You'll probably be doing her a favour in the long run if you are honest.

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 05:47 PM

Just say, "Look, this is how it is....".
Tell her you don't want to offend her, but you'd rather not lie (if that's true, of course).

contrelefuckingsexisme 02.08.2008 05:51 PM

i wish i could do that. i'd totally do it if i knew how she's going to react. she'll probably hate me, anyway.
because she might take it as an offense. because it can be kind of an offense to like...draw a line between what i want and what she wants, which are completely different things.
it's not something negotiable. it's just that's PLAIN different.

oh yea. tell a latin american woman "i'm sorry i don't want to offend you but your personality is horrid"

she'll claw out your eyes!!

for you canucks who don't know susanita, i've looked up some examples in english... i hope it helps to illustrate

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 05:56 PM

But if you bend the truth, she might assume that you aren't being completely honest, anyway. She might jump to wrong conclusions.

Especially if you say that your interests have changed (or something), and you form a new band that will most likely be quite similar..

hahaha mafalda.
sí.

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 05:58 PM

Hahaha.
I guess you're right.
Cultural differences must be taken into account.
If you lived in my parts, we'd settle the argument over a batch over pancakes and a side of bacon to share.

well, i'll have to be kind of careful...especially if i'm trying to talk to a susanita or a madonna ciccone.

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 06:11 PM

Then again, though, if you don't really care about her, and you know she'll hate you anyway, why not go out with a bang?

And, like I said, at least she'll get a "slap in the face", and maybe pick up on reality.

life takes many turns, people change, you never know again when you'll run into each other or in what circumstances.

if i've leaned one thing in my 102 years of life is not to burn any bridges if you can help it. a nice smile works as well as a "fuck you".

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 06:20 PM

If it works just as well, why not choose the "fuck you"?

EH?

AHAH

AAARGHHH!!!
i want to get all this shit off my chest.
NOW!
i wouldn't want to be rude because then, i'll be the BAD one.

well, as i've told you...she's my neighbour.
i don't usually run into her, but my sister and i believe it might start to happen once i'm officially out...hahaha it's OBVIOUS.

flophousefloozie 02.08.2008 06:24 PM

You're right. You certainly don't want to lower yourself to her level.

Rip it off like a bandage.

Just say simply "It's not workin' out". Real casual like that, too.

!@#$%! 02.08.2008 06:39 PM

"im really getting into concrete music and i don't have time for the band now, i'm so sorry, it's been great, but, i also have to record this album and..."

a little ass kissing goes a long way

i'm actually recording an album ahahhaa
!!!

Toilet & Bowels 02.08.2008 07:46 PM

tell her you don't like music anymore, and you want to work in a bank instead

which is something worth considering anyway if you want a job with a future.

Toilet & Bowels 02.08.2008 08:10 PM

"when are you going to grow out of listening to that music?"
is something my younger brother(who likes dire straits, etc.) said to me a few months ago.

contrelefuckingsexisme 02.09.2008 11:34 AM

i'm studying law. i don't want music to become my job. or play for a living, or make tons of money to live properly by playing music.
(this has to do with the reason i want to get the fuck out of the project, too.)

contrelefuckingsexisme 02.09.2008 11:36 AM

ahahaha i think that people who are devoted to music...will prolly never grow out of listening music. the bands they listen to might change. the styles might change, etc. but...i don't think i could live without listening to music.

Everyneurotic 02.09.2008 03:20 PM

just call her and let her know you don't want to play with them anymore and that's nothing personal (even if there is) and that you hope you remain friends (even if you don't want that).

like !@#$%! said, diplomacy.

or just go to a rehearsal and tell them to fuck off and that they are losers, turn around and leave.

hahahaha ok!
those are two quite different and opposite options you are giving me!
the thing is i don't think i want to tell her and only her. i'd be a lot more confortable with another person in front of me telling her...a witness.

Everyneurotic 02.10.2008 01:09 PM

hahahaha, so no one can deny you quit.

if i were in your situation, i'd go with the least amount of people in the room.

!@#$%! 02.10.2008 01:15 PM

no, to avoid gossip and distortions, i'd have all the bandmates in the room

"sorry guys, but my record is taking too much time and i can't be in the band, and you deserve better."

ha ha or something like that.
