NO.

avantgarde1 02.09.2008 09:45 PM

my paul desmond

pokkeherrie 02.10.2008 03:17 AM

It'll probably be by far the worst Thurston Moore album you'll ever own... unless you buy TM/MF as well.

I have been m looking for ages for a copy of TM/MF with no luck...

sonicl 02.10.2008 03:33 AM

Moshe - don't bother. It is totally pointless.

noo i'm not a die hard collector... i just heard that this is a really good album of thurston.. better than others..

sonicl 02.10.2008 03:42 AM

What Thurston stuff do you already have? And which do you enjoy the most?

ZEROpumpkins 02.10.2008 03:44 AM

So how come wikipedia says that Trees Outside the Academy is the second Thurston album?

it's his second album official solo ! others are collaborations with other music including improvisations, so they are two solo albums of thurston including songs psychich hearts and trees.

-------------------------------

i got already: Legend Of The Blood Yeti (and it's shitty), The Promise (i like this one), Foot, Victoriaville, From The Earth To The Spheres, Pillow Wand and Lost To The City/Noise To Nowhere

so i think The Promise is the best from this.

whorefrost 02.10.2008 05:36 AM

Klangfarbenmelodie is the fucking shit. you neeeeeed to own that one

stu666 02.10.2008 05:55 AM

i like the dredd foole and the din - the whys of fire cd which Thurston apears on aswell as Chris Corsano and others

sonicl 02.10.2008 06:36 AM

These aren't all total solo, but I'd say that these are great:

MOORE / SURGAL - KLANGFARBENMELODIE
SHOUP / FLAHERTY / MOORE / CORSANO - LIVE AT TONIC
MOORE / SURGAL / WINANT - PIECE FOR JETSUN DOLMA
THURSTON MOORE QUARTET - THE ROADHOUSE SESSION VOL 1

That's not to say that other side stuff featuring T isn't great, just that, if I was you, they're the ones I'd try to get a hold of next.

The first one is particularly brilliant, but it's long out of print so won't be that easy to find.

mil_pl 02.10.2008 07:22 AM

THURSTON MOORE QUARTET - THE ROADHOUSE SESSION VOL 1

who is in this quartet ?

mil_pl 02.10.2008 07:24 AM

what do you think about new diskaholics anonymous trio - weapons of ass destruction ??

whorefrost 02.10.2008 11:36 AM

its pretty sick, although Live in Japan Vol 1 is perhaps preferrable

agreed. "american coffin" is great/funny.

toxic johnny 02.10.2008 04:05 PM

The split LP with Graham Moore from last year on Nihilist is pretty tasty... as is Kapotte Musiek.

I'm also very fond of The Promise (His collab with Evan Parker and Walter Prati)

My all time favourite has to be Apple Seeds from the 3 way split LP with the Golden Calves Century Band and Dr Gretchen's Musical Weightlifting Program though.

stu666 02.10.2008 04:19 PM

this thread sould be called whats yr favourite Thurston side project :D

It's another SHOUP / FLAHERTY / MOORE / CORSANO one. Only available on import from Japan, I'm afraid.

avantgarde1 02.10.2008 06:00 PM

i liked the TM/MF cd, paid a butt load for it when it came out long ago.

GreenStagecoach 02.10.2008 08:23 PM

Am I the only one who like Trees Outside the Academy? I think it's a pretty good record. Not my favorite, but I do enjoy giving it a spin from time to time. To each his own I suppose

lowlife 02.10.2008 11:15 PM

First listen of Please Just Leave Me, I was actually offended which is pretty funny in itself. It is gross, meandering, nonsensical. After a second listen my opinion is that it is one of his best releases... Or at least his weirdest. Highly reccomended

barnaclelapse 02.10.2008 11:27 PM

Man, this makes me realize just how much of Thurston's solo stuff I'm missing.

I ought to work on that.

c'mon..
"piece for jetsun dolma", "klangfarbenmelodie", his stuff w/ nels cline, are atleast as important as the syr series...

mil_pl 02.11.2008 07:53 AM

can anyone upload klangfarbenmelodie ? cuz i cant get this stuff.. and i will say after first listening how it sounds like :D

Good choices.

Gainsbarre 02.11.2008 05:03 PM

The TM Nels Cline Rhino In Store CD is fucking amazing! I like it better than the Pillow Wand versions...
