What do you really expect from an internet forum, really?

Every other thread on this forum has become ''there should be this'', '' It used be that'', and endless blah blah blah whinging about mine, your, their, her and his threads. What do you really expect from an internet forum? Do you live in hope that someone you don't even know very well is going to provide entertainment for you at the click of a mouse and on a daily basis? Are you one of those people who hides behind some ultimately tiresome and sarcastic virtual persona, but still ends up whinging about the very same things that they think they so stand above? Do you, seriously, have a life of some sort that is totally independent from what some complete strangers think about it? Do you rely too much on making friendships off a computer monitor? Are you happy? Are you eating properly? Do you mind if someone turns around and tells you that they don't give a shit about you and your problems? Have you got any issues with being called a twat? Are you lacking affection, so the rest of the world will have to know about it while you're scratching your arse in your sitting room while eating cereals? Do you act cool or are you cool? Is swa(y) still buying Courtney's knickers off ebay? Did you ever try screaming therapy for your troubles?

it should not be this ^^^ :p

sarramkrop 02.19.2008 10:23 AM

Meh, I forgot to ask how you deal with perennial predictable replies. That'll do for another thread.

sonicl 02.19.2008 10:24 AM

A bit of fun and a break from the daily grind. It would be nice. I try not to, but we're all susceptible to it, aren't we? Oh yes. They're acquaintances more than friends. Sometimes, sometimes not. Yes. Not at all. I'm not keen on it. No. No. Probably. No, I did the talking thing.

Are you a 15 year old with a nice pair of baps? Will you be my wanking material for the next 2 hours before I catch the train home? Please?

sonicl 02.19.2008 10:30 AM

This is the internet. I am whatever you imagine me to be.

+1
I'm here for the entertainment value and to connect to like-minded people.
Since music can bring people that have similar values together, here I am.
I don't pretend that this is real-life.

communication, humans have this sick insatiable need for communication, that's what they seek on a internet forum.

and what's wrong with that?

floatingslowly 02.19.2008 10:38 AM

I am an ultimately tiresome and sarcastic virtual persona.

the only thing I expect is the forum to appear when I click the appropriate button. 404 errors really chap my ass.

sonicl 02.19.2008 10:41 AM

What do you hope for? That's more interesting to me.

I hope for a reasonable level of maturity and intelligence. I sometimes think I have pegged my hopes too high.

after i actually read the questions-- i discovered that some are funny! i parsed them in short paragraphs for user-friendliness.

sometimes communication dont correspond to the individual's expectations and then they get all pissy and whiny.

In a fine mood, thank you. I got some ace news on a new job just yesterday. Life couldn't be better right now. What about yourself?

sarramkrop 02.19.2008 10:58 AM

You know what? When you're feeling in your guts that you are trying too hard to be sarcastic, perhaps it's time to stop being sarcastic altogether, innit? That way you win more brownie points.

Everyneurotic 02.19.2008 10:59 AM

from an internet forum in general? nerds.

now, can we talk about music again?

awesome porky, thanks.

just moved to a new house! and a new city, which is-- fucking great!!

i can walk to stores, movies, shows, etc. love my neighborhood. very excited about these changes. the house is still a mess but we got the bedroom, the kitchen & the music & movies workin.

anyway, i'm thinking of going to the movies at lunch time. they're showing persepolis and there will be blood. then tonight liars are playing in a local bar. did i tell you i fucking love my neighborhood? yesss..

how about you? what's up with your new job? tell, tell.

pbradley 02.19.2008 11:03 AM

Can't we just drop our torpedoes in the water and neg rep each other like every other day? At least then I know exactly what I've done to annoy exactly whoever.

But I agree with the first post which is why I'm not too invested in this forum.

girlgun 02.19.2008 11:06 AM

i consider myself a bit of a message board expert. i have made about 175,000 (hangs head in shame) posts in the last 10 years.... mostly at 3 different places, but a few more. i have seen the worst of the worst and the best of the best.

anyone who has any expectations for anything (and i'm not even talking about just message boards) is in for a rude awakening. nothing is ever how you hope it will be.

as far as boards, if you don't like what's posted... post something else. if that still doesn't work for you, walk the fuck away. when you come back, it'll still be here! save your fucking bitching. save your fucking goodbye threads.

great news man!
glad everyhing's fine over there.
wherever "there" is.

back on topic, I think this forum (which is almost the only "community thing" I spend time on on the net) exceeded my expectations coz I found some really nice people who helped me with a bunch of things and that in some cases I've been able to help and so on, and I "learned" a lot of interesting stuff actually, as lame as it may sound.

Overall I expect(ed) to get some fun and some infos and maybe share some stuff. As simple as that.
the answers to porky's questions are the most obvious/blanced ones but I'm not much happy and I don't eat properly, dang-

ha ha. hey man. i'm in albuquerque now-- still in new mexico, but a city of around 800K people-- not huge, but fun enough. i'm in the university neighborhood, which i love. and the house is roomy!

about expectactions for the internet-- im with you in that this place surpassed my expectations. the internet is a shithole, and even when this place is slow, it's better than whatever the crap is going "out there". to paraphrase cheeto, i love my sonic brothers & sisters. well not *all* of them, i'm definitely not st. francis.

heee heee that painting...

floatingslowly 02.19.2008 11:18 AM

I expect there to be bunnies.

!@#$%! 02.19.2008 11:18 AM

anyway i should get out of bed & start my morning.

a good day to all!

█████████ 02.19.2008 11:22 AM

i went to a nun school, they showed us a movie about st. francis every year.
there were several nude scenes and the nuns would go wild and crazy.

nicfit 02.19.2008 11:23 AM

Those animals that we saw in the mountains yesterday are unknown to you, Floating?

floatingslowly 02.19.2008 11:25 AM

there were strange birds in the sky that day.

sonicl 02.19.2008 11:26 AM

We have bunnies where I work.

█████████ 02.19.2008 11:34 AM

look at st. francis,
clearly there was no kaminomoto, back in those days.

and he dyed his beard blonde.

sarramkrop 02.19.2008 11:36 AM

I'm totally loving that pinkish goat. Nice.

█████████ 02.19.2008 11:38 AM

unless that's a fitness sweat band and i'm getting it all wrong.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 02.19.2008 11:39 AM

I don't know. I like this forum as is. We can make fun of eachother and nobody gets their panties in a knot. It isn't like that on many other forums.
