Lust For Life = David Bowie's best album
!!!!
 :D :p |
produced? yes, but low is a thosand times better
|
Lust For Life is my favourite Iggy Pop album.
|
This reminds me I need to get more Bowie albums. Any recomendations? I have earthling, and the man who sold the world.
|
Low starts out really good but trails off.
Seriously though, David Bowie didn't just produce Lust For Life, he wrote a lot of the songs with Iggy as well. I suggest you get Ziggy Stardust, Diamond Dogs, and Station to Station to start |
i dont think one can go wrong with bowie in between 1970-1980
|
No you really can't.
|
No it's the Idiot.

The Idiot >>> every other post-Stooges Iggy LP

Hunky Dory, Station to Station, Ziggy Stardust, Low, Heroes. In roughly that order. |
Didn't he produce Transformer? I like that. A lot.

I cut my teeth on Ziggy Stardust...
|
I'm not sure if you're talking about the production itself (which is very good) or the album being the best album Bowie's been involved with. If it's the latter, I strongly disagree, solely because Turn Blue is one of the shittiest songs I've ever heard.

I love the song Turn Blue. Jesus. . . this is Iggy |

You left out his best one that Iggy isn't involved with. Diamond fucking Dogs. |
Not all the albums that Cantanky listed have Iggy Pop on it. I assume yours was a joke, Julian.
|
Actually, none of them have.

the berlin trilogy, as cliched it is to say, is bowie's most creative stint of music.
|
Backing vocals are hardly a major contribution to one's album unless you are Madonna.
|
The Idiot is a fucking great album.
'Dum Dum Boys' and 'Mass Production' have kept popping into my head at random times in the twenty-odd years that have passed since it was released. "I was most impressed......No one else was impressed.....Not at all" Classic! |

I just said that so I wouldn't contradict my first statement that Iggy Pop- Lust For Life is his best album. So that is why I added the "iggy isn't involved with" |

get pin ups too! |
I would have to say no.
|
Diamond Dogs > Station to Station > Ziggy Stardust
Sweet Thing-Candidate-Reprise is the greatest medley ever and We Are the Dead is an awesome song |
I always fall asleep in the middle of Rebel Rebel whenever I listen to Diamond Dogs. It's really fucking odd. I think it's most definitely the weakest of his 70's material, but it still has a few worthwhile moments.

I find Alladin Sane pretty meh. Except Cracked Actor rules.
|
cracked actor is my favourite song on the record
his version of lets spend the night together is awesome |

Weak? Yet now We feel that we are paper, choking on you nightly They tell me "Son, we want you, be elusive, but don't walk far" Always breaking in the new boys, deceive your next of kin For you're dancing where the dogs decay, defecating ecstasy You're just an ally of the leecher Locator for the virgin King, but I love you in your fuck-me pumps And your nimble dress that trails Oh, dress yourself, my urchin one, for I hear them on the rails Because of all we've seen, because of all we've said We are the dead I'll make you a deal, like any other candidate We'll pretend we're walking home 'cause your future's at stake My set is amazing, it even smells like a street There's a bar at the end where I can meet you and your friend Someone scrawled on the wall "I smell the blood of les tricoteuses" Who wrote up scandals in other bars I'm having so much fun with the poisonous people Spreading rumours and lies and stories they made up Some make you sing and some make you scream One makes you wish that you'd never been seen But there's a shop on the corner that's selling papier mache Making bullet-proof faces, Charlie Manson, Cassius Clay If you want it, boys, get it here, thing So you scream out of line "I want you! I need you! Anyone out there? Any time?" Tres butch little number whines "Hey dirty, I want you When it's good, it's really good, and when it's bad I go to pieces" If you want it, boys, get it here, thing Well, on the street where you live I could not hold up my head For I put all I have in another bed On another floor, in the back of a car In the cellar like a church with the door ajar Well, I guess we've must be looking for a different kind But we can't stop trying 'till we break up our minds 'Til the sun drips blood on the seedy young knights Who press you on the ground while shaking in fright I guess we could cruise down one more time With you by my side, it should be fine We'll buy some drugs and watch a band Then jump in the river holding hands |
crack baby crack
show me you're real smack baby smack is that all you feel? suck baby suck give me your head before you start professing that you're knocking me dead ohhhh the riff in this song is killing me |
I do like that line. It turns me on.
|
david bowie made some sexy music in his glam rock period
have you heard his cover of "i'm waiting for the man"? c. 1972 glam rock is sexy music in general. like bang a gong. |
Yeah, if I'm listening to Bowie, T. Rex, Iggy Pop, or VU and hanging out with a girl and we're not making out, there is something wrong.
|
alice cooper was better than iggy and bowie combined.
there, i said it. |
|
hmmm...
should have said "alice cooper in the 70's", i thought it was implied. killer, love it to death and billion dollar babies are three of the best records ever. |
