i don't regret not seeing a band because mostly it's pointless (how the fuck would i make it to see, say, coltrane or james brown at the apollo or the velvet underground? a fucking time machine?). pretty much, 90% of the bands i listen to i haven't and probably will never see live.

re Cecil Taylor Do you know what you're talking about? What performance have you seen recently? I talking recently with Jackson Krall who drums for Cecil's big band and he was talking about how Cecil is more on than ever, how the musicians are always amazed of the stamina and inventiveness and sheer beauty this guy creates at his age. Steve Swell told me Cecil never tells them what to do, but if he doesn't like what you're doing he will give them a look that just cuts right through them and they know. Over the past couple years my friend has been putting together a doc on Cecil so I've seen hours of rehearsals and performance videos for his big band and let me tell you, and he still kills. The doc is all done, just waiting on Cecil's ok. |
Pixies! Also Pavement, At the Drive-in, Bikini Kill, Guided by Voices, and Nirvana

mudhoney, oh wait i'm seeing them june 12th. i saw fugazi so i really don't need to see anymore bands.
i think everybody here knows what three bands i would've liked to see. one starts with a b and two start with the letter m. |
oh wait, rites of spring i would've loved to see live. but i don't think too often about this stuff since it would be impossible for me to see the four bands i would've loved to see because well i was 4 when the last one broke up.
|

rites of spring only played something like 14 shows too, so the people who got to see them better realize how lucky they are. living in d.c. in the 80s woulda been awesome. well punk rock wise, not reagan wise. |
