Name for my new band

I'm thinking of starting a band that's sort of retro 60s/early 70s, quasi-Doors/VU/Stones. The first name that came to me was Scream of the Butterfly (from a Doors song). Also The Mindbenders.

Any other suggestions?

sarramkrop 04.24.2008 07:52 AM

The Rolling Stones Tribute Band

but why did you use "the" only for the sticks?

'Cause The Sticks and The Stones sounds like two bands in one.

gmku 04.24.2008 08:21 AM

Maybe just Sticks & Stones

jon boy 04.24.2008 08:21 AM

the cocksucker blues band

The Exile on Murray Street

& for the record, it's not a tribute band. Just based loosely on that 60s sound. We'll do covers but not in a tribute kind of way and strive for our own material, our own look, etc.

Oh well, in that case: The This Is Not A Rolling Stones Tribute Band, Honestly Band

jon boy 04.24.2008 08:30 AM

the 60's is not over no matter how much happened in the meantime band.

Ha. That's a mouthful!

Probably a little long, and a little off-target. I don't want to convey the sense that we're not aware of music beyond the 60s. That's not the point at all.

The Should I Get Stoned While Listening To The Stones? Band

jon boy 04.24.2008 08:41 AM

sword in the stones

jon boy 04.24.2008 08:42 AM

the blues smothers

gmku 04.24.2008 08:42 AM

Okay, so probably nothing with the Stones as part of the name. I get what you're trying to tell me.

gmku 04.24.2008 08:43 AM

I think right now my favorites are the two I proposed. I like Sticks & Stones, but again, I don't want to be misconstrued as a Stones tribute band.

do the opposites.
like if its gonna be only you, get a name in plural.
if its gonna be more than 1 person in the band, do a single name.

I see yr point about the tribute band name. That's tricky though. It has to be off enough so that people don't misconstrue it.

Yeah, all these names with ''stones'' in them are a little unimaginative. After all, your range of influences is wider than just them.

The Rolling Doors

What about that?

_slavo_ 04.24.2008 09:01 AM

The Tapir Trio
