Times New Viking

Anyone into them? I've been blasting them for a while, I really enjoy them.

Bye.

whorefrost 04.25.2008 04:21 AM

Just got their album through the mail the other day, not had a chance to rock it yet.. will listen whilst driving to the Markers gig..

Onani Nic 04.25.2008 04:53 AM

The latest two are both pretty good, think I prefer the Siltbreeze album a bit. In my opinion they'd be a lot better if they didn't muffle their vocals quite so much. I dig the whole lo-fi thing but I reckon the singing is pretty important in this style of thing. Guess thats why I prefer Psychedelic Horseshit....

Toilet & Bowels 04.25.2008 05:52 AM

yep, been listening to them since their first album, definite fan. they're playing in london in may

sarramkrop 04.25.2008 06:06 AM

They're playing both on the 15th at The Old Blue Last and the 21st at the Corsica Studios. I'm going to either of those.

Whorefrost, they are also in Glasgow on the 24th and in Edinburgh on the 23rd.

whorefrost 04.25.2008 06:17 AM

Oh, I never knew about that, cheers.

raging_nelly 04.25.2008 07:07 AM

Yes, I like these guys.

Also check out Pink Reason and TV Ghost.

Me likey.

This Is Not Here 04.25.2008 07:08 AM

Hmmm, I'd be interested in seeing them live, though something tells me they're clashing with Pubic Enema.

Toilet & Bowels 04.25.2008 07:11 AM

they're also playing in london on the 15th at barden's boudoir

sarramkrop 04.25.2008 07:58 AM

Two gigs in one night?

Toilet & Bowels 04.25.2008 08:12 AM

here's what their myspace says:

23 May 2008 20:00 studio 24 edinburgh, Scotland
24 May 2008 20:00 captain’s rest glasgow, Scotland

sarramkrop 04.25.2008 08:18 AM

I thought that the Stag and Dagger festival was at the Old Blue Last. Did they move it?

Toilet & Bowels 04.25.2008 08:19 AM

no idea

Toilet & Bowels 04.25.2008 08:25 AM

i think i meant to type 14th instead of 15th, and also that the promoter's website says the show on the 14th is at barden's, whereas their myspace says cafe oto on the 14th

sarramkrop 04.25.2008 08:32 AM

It's a bit confusing and they are all venues in close proximity of each other.

Toilet & Bowels 04.25.2008 08:42 AM

well i think the 15th show is at the old blue last
and the 14th either barden's or oto

CHOUT 04.25.2008 04:24 PM

we talked to Grant Hart behind the bar through their set when we were gonna see em. he opened for 'em.

DeadDiscoDildo 04.25.2008 04:39 PM

they're sick, columbus has a good scene goin on now, I wish my band were there instead of cincinnati but its not a bad drive for gigs, infact its quite convenient.

I like viking better than horseshit, for the record.
but as far as low fi goes, i like black lips better than viking.

Everyneurotic 04.25.2008 09:42 PM

they are pretty good.

moonmoon 04.26.2008 05:26 AM

pretty good!!

Me too. I find Horseshit a little hit or miss. Some songs by them slay big time, others are a bit so-so.

Horseshit I had to see live before they really clicked for me, and now I think I like them more than TNV, although I haven't seen TNV live yet, so that is subject to change.
Anyway, I just bought my tickets for the Barden's Boudoir show

I bet Horseshit must be a really loud and fun band to watch live. You can tell simply by listening to their records that they must be a total fuck up. I'm going to the one at the Corsica Studios as it is near work so I can check out Gindrinker too.

Glice 04.26.2008 07:12 AM

I can see a lot of the comments in this thread in a Chris Morris sketch.

Pretty good. I like him.

Glice 04.26.2008 07:19 AM

Times New Viking are playing a short walk from my house. Would I like them? I hate the venue, if it's any help.

I can't see why not.

Glice 04.26.2008 07:26 AM

I haven't enjoyed a rock band for quite a while mind you.

sarramkrop 04.26.2008 07:32 AM

Don't go, then.

They're worth checking out if you like sloppy, exuberant, cruddy sounding indie/rock, in a similar vein to things like urusei yatsura
http://www.myspace.com/timesnewviking

Glice 04.26.2008 08:14 AM

Ah, now, you said the U-word, and as you may know, they remain one of my favourite bands. So I shall be going.

whorefrost 05.24.2008 02:55 AM

Excellent set in Edinburgh last night. I am in love with Beth. Anyone else caught them on tour?

Toilet & Bowels 05.24.2008 04:27 AM

yeah, i saw them last week in london, very good stuff.

the ikara cult 05.24.2008 04:36 AM

I went to a really worthwhile random gig last night, for the first time in aeons. So ive decided i might start paying attention to new(er) music again.
I think ill start with this band.
*basks in the warmth of having made a decision*

greedrex 05.31.2008 03:17 AM

mmm
i listened to the LP.
The songs are quite good
but the sound is shitty as fuck
so it puts me off big time

am I a bad person?

pbradley 05.31.2008 03:40 AM

I've heard these guys on and off for a year now and the sloppy for sloppy sake vibe I get from them always puts me off.

Kind of the why I'm reluctent with Psychedelic Horseshit.

greedrex 05.31.2008 03:41 AM

ha! good to know i'm not the only one.
I can't stand not being part of the hype

pbradley 05.31.2008 03:50 AM

oh don't let me fool you, we are evidently residents of squaresville
