Dress like a rock star

C'mon, you know you want to. Or maybe you already do.

How do you do it, and who do you imitate?

Since Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones, and Bob Dylan, among others, revolutionized popular styles of dress, maybe we all dress to some extent or another like rock stars?

Pfenig for your thoughts...

Everyneurotic 05.23.2008 09:38 PM

not to sound like a cliché but i don't dress like anyone in particular, i don't immitate anyone.

Cantankerous 05.23.2008 09:40 PM

no imitations. i is who i is.

gmku 05.23.2008 09:44 PM

Okay, I don't mean imitation so much as inspiration. Tho I don't really think anything is wrong with imitation.

Cantankerous 05.23.2008 09:47 PM

everything is wrong with imitation.

i am most inspired by pictures of my moms side of the family when she was a little girl in the 70s.

gmku 05.23.2008 09:54 PM

There's nothing wrong with imitation. There's nothing truly and entirely original about anything anybody does. It's all based on something else.

Cantankerous 05.23.2008 09:56 PM

false

gmku 05.23.2008 09:58 PM

It's a well-accepted idea, even by the most innovative artists. You can be innovative to the nth degree, but you can't get away from the fact that everything evolves from something.

Death & the Maiden 05.23.2008 09:59 PM

I had Thurston/Stone Roses hair, but that's all.

ZEROpumpkins 05.23.2008 10:06 PM

I have long hair, similar to (but not intended to be like) Kurt Cobain's in style and colour.

of course everything EVOLVES from something but that doesn't mean it's based off of anything
you can take elements of 10r8850585 different things and make them into one NEW thing

my hair grows out of my head brown.
bob dylan, keith richards, david bowie, courtney love, patti smith, thurston moore, kim gordon (bitch has roots and you know it), steve shelley, and just about every other fucking rockstar have naturally brown hair.
i'm such a copycat.

gmku 05.23.2008 10:30 PM

Sometimes I want to dress like a vintage Keith Richards, other times like Joey Ramone.

Then other days I wish I had Daniel Craig's clothes in Casino Royale.

EMMAh 05.23.2008 10:37 PM

I don't really think I dress like anyone.

I have Robert Smith-esque hair.

Which rock stars wear rock t-shirts and jeans? Josh Homme maybe? Dave Grohl?

My exact words.

copper 05.24.2008 04:07 PM

i used to have j mascis hair.

what the hell was i thinking.

demonrail666 05.26.2008 06:50 AM

I model every part of my look on Celine Dion, circa 1994. It's a good look, and it works very well for me.

Johnny "Magic Fingers" 05.26.2008 09:35 AM

I dress like the ultimate rock star - Johnny "Magic Fingers"!!!!

And that means - jeans and a cool T-Shirt.

In the early 90s, this meant ultra-tight black denim jeans and a black metal T-Shirt. (ie: Guns'n'Roses, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden). Now it's ultra faded blue denim jeans with any coloured T-Shirt as long as it's extra-elitist and no-one else has it (ie: my own designs).

So it's a pretty generic look (kinda like the Thurston/Kurt hair thing).

But what you're after is the style I had when I was obsessed with cock-rock in 1991 and used to hit the Cathouse in Melbourne looking like this:

This is Yngwie Malmsteen BTW. Google him at yr own peril!
