eurovison 2008........
![]() its on tonight. vall the semi finals are done and we are down to 20 pieces of shite from around europe.. who will win.......? at least the embarrassing fiasco of irelands entry will never ever see the light of day again (the song, not the turkey) my guess... greece to win only cuz she is damn fine! any other thoughts.. cmon we all secretly watch it behind closed fingers with the sound down and curtains closed....... |
YES!!!! let the embarrasment begin!!!
(switch to the hot girls thread...) |
lol, its in my freaking country.
|
My vote goes to "My Lovely Horse" by Father Ted Crilly and Father Dougal McGuire.
|
it would have been better option than dustin the turkey!
|
I used to love it, but it seems that the groups are now in on the joke. Which destroys half the fun i think. I always support Israel anyway, regardless of the song.
|
WELCOME TO THE BELGRADE!
hahahahahahahah i laughed my ass off when this host said that. this is such a joke, everyones singing in english. the guy with the jagstang made me laugh and the pirates were badass. thats all i have to say. |
well. there you go. i was almost right with greece...... the eurovision will never be the same if they continue with this public vote and all scandanavian countries vote for themselves and moreso the balkans....... i cant believe im intellectualizing the fucking eurovision........
roll on moscow!!!!! now where is my stereolab cds..... |
damn that was good fireworks. if i wasnt in holland right now i'd see it since my building is like, right across that river and we've got a nice view.
i liked the stage, it had the 2 rivers and stuff. |
man are those 2 hosts and the 2 nonces in the green room, famous in belgrade? cuz i know the irish hosts were always radio presenters and kinda irish b listers... no one outside of the 26 counties would have heard of em.
|
well, the male host is like one of the most famous people in serbia, he composes like 80% of serbias eurovision songs, but he sucks; and the woman is a tv host who isn't really famous.
|
what really sucks is that the uk never gets any votes.

It's okay though, the UK has actual musicians with actual talent. |
can anyone believe the spanish twat? fuck my!!! i hope he realizes what an unfunny, retarded joke he is.
fuck dude, that girl from greece is really pretty, the armenian girl too. i agree that it sucks now people are making joke songs for this. i miss the over whelming power ballads. the israel song was quite good, i thought, the serbian one too, also the blind girl's wasn't bad. and the tone deaf german spice girls? holy shit!!! is this about who's the best or who's the worst? |
the bosnian one was hillarious. and the pirates and the finland people made me laugh.
|
yep. the greek girl is a stunner.. tyhe germans were terrible.. as for the spanish..... at least it didnt win and we wont be hearing it all over the canary islands on our holidays for the next year!!!
lordy win with their black metal in 2006 and score fuck all with metal again.. i know its not black metal but in eurovision terms it is! |

i have been feeling a little uneasy since we here always get spain's one hit wonders exported as the best shit ever, and yesterday was the first time i heard about that spanish retard; i'm afraid they are going to flood mexican radio with that shit in the next couple of months.
the finns were hilariously bad, and the azerbaijan axl rose? if you're going to sing falsetto, make sure you can hit the notes. the british guy was terrible. |
Is it just me or does Terry Wogan get more and more cynical about Eurovision every year, to the point where he ruins your enjoyment. He used to be best thing about Eurovision, not anymore...

Definitely. His constant world-weary quips and 'loveable Uncle Terry Irish blarney' get right on my nerves. "Look out for the three dancing eejits in the background"... yes, we can see them Terry, we don't need to be told when to laugh. |
He gets a bit wearing, but I'd still be abhored if anyone else did Eurovision instead of 'Uncle Terry'. Its nice to have a limited dose of cynicism thrown in there, you get the impression every other country in Europe (or as the case may be, not in Europe) takes it deadly seriously. Though I wish he'd shut the hell up about the political voting. What was it he said after the results had been announced - "this is no longer a music competion"? Shut up Terry. We all know its political, Greece always votes for Cyprus and visa versa, and its not coincidence we've been last or in the bottom three every year since the Iraq War. To be honest, its all part of the fun, and watching those political votes come in is as reassuringly predictable as the Turkish entry being an hilarious joke.

Copper - you have the task of selling me your country. I may be in Croatia this summer (Split), and if I am, I will visit Podgorica, Montenegro as well. Would you recommend taking the trip to Belgrade for a couple of days? Is it worth it? I'd love an honest opinion of a native...! Bear in mind I am attracted to urban decay and post-Soviet countries for one reason or another, but am also interested in art, culture, food and basically a good time. Also, what's the safety like in Belgrade at the moment? Bandits? Haha
Cheers in advance. |
What the hell was up with boznia?
They were washing chickens! |
Bitches best be glad this ain't a world affair.

I just read this morning that the song has apparently been a hit in Spain for months now, being played on radio and TV all the time… And the performance has been watched by nearly 14 million Spaniards on Saturday: http://www.elpais.com/articulo/gente...lpepuage_1/Tes Sorry, I just want to warn you... |
i know!!! i'm fretting!!!
--- yeah, bosnia was like mother's day in a primary school. |
are there italian bands too?? I have no idea what this eurovision thing is, but I remember old funny threads about this.
|
no, italy boycotted this eurovision thing decades ago as far as i know, something about not allowing people to mime or something, maybe they didnt allow black box in (ride on time europop, not plane crash thingys)
terry wogan is threatening to leave the eurovision broadcast because its turning into a former eastern bloc farce... leave terry alone.... he is great, our biggest export after eamonn andrews and u2!!! (and maybe guinness and shite footballers) |
