Uplifting Songs

What are those songs which, whenever you hear them, all the problems in your life seem to just slip away (if only for three minutes)?

atsonicpark 06.12.2008 11:01 AM

Nirvana - I Hate Myself and Want to Die
Rage Against the Machine - Bullet in the Head
Marilyn Manson - Suicide is Painless
Tori Amos - Me and a Gun
Bloodhound Gang - Lift Your Head Up High and Blow Your Brains Out
That Otep song where she screams for 15 minutes about being raped and how it tore up her vagina and she goes "IT'S INSIDE! MY FLOWER IS BLOODY!" and then at the end she talks about how she, y'know, kinda enjoyed the rape
That SlipKnot song "Scissors" where it's about 10 minutes of him screaming about dissecting a girl and then there's about 10 minutes of the band watching scat porn and then it goes into "Eyeore" which has the great lyrics "FUCK YOU FUYCK YOU YOU'RE FUCKING STUPID FUCK YOU FUCK YOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUU I DON'T NEED YOU ANYMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOREEEEEEEEEEEE"
any Joy Division song

nicfit 06.12.2008 11:04 AM

At the moment I am listening to Pink Reason all the time and I find the way he signed off the song ''Goodbye'' to be both sad and uplifting at the same time.

For those ridiculous rock thrills; One of last year's nominees... listen to the production closely on the plosive consonants, I was amazed when I noticed.

Glice 06.13.2008 04:24 AM

I found this song earlier this year, it's amazing.

Yo La Tengo's You Can Have It All cheered me up today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWr6Ep8N3OU

And I had a mostly shit day which would have been utterly intolerable without it.

sarramkrop 06.13.2008 05:37 AM

Yo La Tengo's music makes me feel deflated, rather than uplifted.

pbradley 06.13.2008 06:04 AM

Well I guess there could be different definitions to "uplifted." I was traveling all over the city today for a very unworthy reason and getting fed up with the drivers, parking, waiting forever for buses but the song helped to relax me (deflate for the less inclined?) and put a smile on my face.
