Good summer shoe choice? Or no?

I need a good summer shoe that's good with both jeans and khakis.

Whatdya think? Alternatives?

My shoe of choice. They go with everything.

WTF? They wear them on miami vice? They're a pretty damned cheap shoe for those Vice guys to be wearing.

get a pair of white ones and wear them with no socks and a pastel t shirt.

So what's the alternative? Can't do Converse or sneakers with khakis. That's tacky.

I've got some Clarks in brown and blue (the trad oxford Trek and Desert Boot). But sometimes they feel a bit heavy for this time of year.

Actually I am looking for something that might work with no socks. And I just bought some pastel linen shirts from BR. Along with some white and some green khakis.

Maybe I am going with the Vice look.

No they're not! Not if you get the right kind. They're a nice alternative to jeans.

I got some really nice ones at BR for fairly cheap. They're summer weight and plain front, and they're slim but not overly slim.

I think khakis are tacky when they try to get either too dressy or too casual. Too dressy means pleats, too casual means distressed cargo.

You have to go for the plain chino looking ones.

Plus I really doubt those are khakis in that photo. An 80s era suit pants for the Miami set does not a present day pair of plain khakis make.

fucking sperry topsiders. you've got to be joking. my grandpa is fucking 70 years old and still wears his converse every day.

i always wear some type of tall strappy sandal or high heel in the summer.

i think flip flops are inappropriate for most places. it's fine for the grocery store or the beach, but don't wear them to dinner or a bar etc.

& you're right about that. i either wear open platforms/heels or some kind of boot every day.

it's too hot for me to wear boots in the summer. but i'm fucking damn well ready for them come october.

Did I say there's anything wrong with Converse? I wear them to. I want another option, though. Something that's like one step up in dressiness. Something leather but lightweight.
