The Kills
yeah or nay?
my pops introduced me to this groups a couple years back. I had an album with some alright tracks on it.. but the other day he sent me a couple of other albums, and they are pretty decent as well. anyone else? |
i dont know, but theyre playing the mighty boosh festival that im off to this summer so id probably better check them out...
|
They are great.
|
Royal Trux for Kaiser Chiefs fans.
|
i prefer discount so much more than the kills.
|
I picked up midnight boom at best buy for 7 bucks knowing nothing about it.
It was one of those completley random purchases that I wound up loving. Last Day of Magic is like an orgy in my ears |
I bought No Wow knowing nothing about them. Lovely album, nice songs to dance to.
|
Dull. I kind of like one of their songs.
|
I find them good
|
They're pretty decent in an OK sort of way.
There was about a 6-month period about 3 years back when I swear I could hardly turn around without accidentally seeing The Kills - they seemed to be supporting every other band I went to see, played a couple of festivals and did some unannounced secret gig in a club in London when I was down for the Slint reunion. Can't think of another band I've seen more times without ever once actually intending to... |
kill em all
|
i absolutely love them.
FUCK the people. |
I don't like drum machines.

|
midnight boom was kinda a let down... no wow and mean side are great albums tho.... and alison is sweet.
|
The Kills are Royal Trux for people who think Green Day are punk

- i love the kills - i despise green day - green day are further from punk than sheena easton. - way to repeat yourself. |
The Kills are Royal Trux for people who think this song has soul
|
hahahaha
|
T&B is about right. It's like an A&R dep't listened to the first Royal Trux album and decided to sign a band with all the obvious signifiers, except for the interesting bits.
EDIT: I find people that despise Green Day hilarious. It's like their badge of honour. Hating Dookie doesn't mean a thing. It's like saying you have morals simply because you hate the Yorkshire Ripper. |
midnight boom is ok, no wow is better.
a poppier pj harvey fronting a de-aggro'd big black. |
the politics of music never seem to amaze me, there are more politics then hitting the yard in Vacaville!

That is what I thought when they released their first album; their image put me off them for a long time... well, until I heard Fried My Little Brains to be exact. I like Royal Trux but I don't think they've written a song as good as No Wow. Really. All of their albums are great. They even have good B-sides (Passion Is Accurate, the Beefheart cover). And my favourite gig in years was when I saw them in Leeds this year, all of the Midnight Boom songs sound even better live. I'm a fan! Oh, and I think the drum-machine is the best thing about No Wow (the album). I like the slow, measured 'tick-tick-tick'-ing, the way it sounds like its holding back something; and like its counting down until the moment when it will release it - its really intense. |
Dull.
|
bah, people are strange.

I think purely on a song-writing level they're quite hard to compare. It's my view that the industry loved the idea behind Royal Trux but couldn't handle the music. So along came The Kills and that was it: problem solved. |
I liked the live shows I heard (I haven't listened to the records yet).

They're too sexy for me.
