Funny you pull up this as a thread - I was reading the Lester Bangs book on Thursday lunchtime, and was giggling (again) to Mr Bangs' murdering of D Bowie's "Young Americans" tour - basically calling DB on his warmed-up Al Jolson routines.

Get rid of the crappy R Stones cover. Please!

but his version of "my death" and "let's spend the night together" are nothing short of brilliant. i don't know that i've ever heard another cover he's done.

Good Bowie cover - his version of Iggy Pop's "China Girl" - a bit heavy on the 1980's production cheese, but otherwise very nice.

basically all of them except for dancing in the street, which, again, was mostly mick jagger's doing.

Bowie has done some awful covers but he has done some amazing ones eg. "Sorrow" off Pinups and "Wild is the Wind" off Station to Station.

i forgot about pin-ups too! i haven't listened to that in ages.

Damn, beat me to it - possibly my favourite Bowie song. Agreed that almost all his other covers are horrendous though.

That many people voted for Let's Spend the Night Together? There are only like three bad songs on the CD, and that's not one of them. Idiots.
