I know The Strokes are an easy target for indie boy hatred, but that album really is great. I dance to it in my kitchen when I'm cooking dinner. EVERY DAY. |
i like is this it too, its simle, nothing new maybe, but enjoyable.

I know, it really is an indie boy thing to hate the strokes. But I'm really not an indie boy. I like EVERYTHING. I just think the strokes make horrible music. It's not a hatred of their fans or their fangroup, I just hate them. With someone like Cat Power I can admit, even though I hate the music, yes I also hate the leigons of pretentious hipsters that worship it |
|
Quote:
I was calling The Strokes indie boys, not you. Because they are big indie boys, big hipsters, cool cats, and that could be repugnant, but I sort of fancy them all so it's okay. |
I'd rather listen to Urge Overkill any day than the no sense of humor Strokes
|
Quote:
Their lyrics are actually quite funny, sometimes. I can't be bothered finding examples because I know you don't care either way. |

Urge Overkill rocks! Sister Havana! But how did they end up in a comparison to the Strokes??? |
I wouldn't consider Mr. Bungle [especially not "California"] a rock album, but glad to see them mentioned!

'Fuckin With My Head' is a great rock song, and 'Mutherfuker' is unmistakeably hardcore.. but I know what you mean. What genre could you put this album into, though? It chops and changes far too much to be anything in particular. |

Fantasma is a rock album, it spand the full spectrum of rock, from early beach boys harmony, to thrash, to loud abrasive rock. Point is NOT a rock album in that sense. |
