ha ha! most amusing
|
LOL!
I'm so excited about their next album that when I read the title of this thread I thought Sanskrit was some kind of torrent site where you could find leaks and a song of the album leaked. You got me disapointed... but I lol'd |
sanskrit is a great name for a music download site!!! fuck! great idea!
|
ahahha nice one
|
I love that Panda Bear shit so much more than Animal Collective.

am i supposed to understand this thread? ie IS THERE A PUNCH LINE? |
i actually liked strawberry jam better than person pitch, though it was the other way around when i first listened to both.
|
when my soul starts gloooowwwwingggggg
|
i liked the worst of pullhair rubeye better than the best moments of both combined.
I'd like to see the new lightning bolt song in braille. |
How about in flashing multi-color light braille??
But yeah, I thought Strawberry Jam was AC's best....I'm really not a huge fan, but for some reason I really like Person Pitch. I thought I'd hate it......even though I think I've said that a few times here. |
I didn't really think either one was that compelling all the way through, though I appreciate both releases for actually being extremely melodic. Strawberry Jam, I think, had really awful sequencing, I think every song was better than the one before it.. I hate Peacebone, I think that song is amongst worst they've ever done.
But to get away from negativity, I appreciate them, again, for actually having a shit ton of awesome melodies, something most bands can't be bothered with. Avey Tare's album sticks out as being a lot better than either one. It's lonely, quiet, melodic, "avant-garde", lovely in a very bizarre way... |
![]() great |
The first 3 or 4 songs off of Person Pich are pretty great, but it def. falls off after that.
Just to have a good tiiiiime.......good tiiiiiiiime............good tiiiiiiime........ |
I just personally don't think the songs are that good; he has a great voice and the vocal melodies are great but the samples and the kinda empty songs don't do anything for me.
|
I think Animal Collective is truely a great band, even though they get worse on every album as I said.. I appreciate that all their albums sound really different from one another.
|
I've always thought that Animal Collective have never made a PROPERLY amazing album. It's just 'good' or 'okay'. Person Pitch is almost near amazing but sort of misses the mark a bit.
And I think Strawberry Jam isn't that great, neither is Feels. Sung Tongs is good. There is always a level of potential in their albums that they never reach. |
Hahahahahahahaha Rob. Legend
|
Whatever. I love Animal Collective. I agree that PERSON PITCH was incredible (better than STRAWBERRY JAM in my opinion). But I think Animal Collective is great.
|
No one said they weren't great. You're allowed to say negative things about bands you really like.
|
Actually Adam, for once I wasn't disagreeing with you about music, haha. But there have been other threads on this board about how Animal Collective is terrible, and Pitchfork sucks for liking them. It was more that that I was referencing. But agree with you that one of their best qualities is the ability to actually try different directions with each album. That's what keeps me interested in them I guess.
|
Though the one disagreement is that I think "Peacebone" is one of the BEST songs they've ever done!

The last song is one my favs. |
Oh, interesting, I guess I misread what you meant.
|
I think animal collective is one of the only bands that 95% of this board can agree is great.
|
I'm a big fan of Animal Collective. Uh, I think I like everything they've done. I'm surely not really objective with them but whatever. Feels was important for me, cause it was the album that made me realise there was actually something new going on in the 2000's (before that I was this 15 year old guy that thought 00's was only revival and listened almost only 80's bands) - that and Liars' Drum's Not Dead. So they're an important band for me.
And I think Peacebone is very good too, though I prefer Cuckoo Cuckoo on Strawberry. But Peacebone is just so incredible live, when they do that acid bass intro and then start the first sample of the track - pure awesomeness. Also - AC really have great rare/unreleased/B sides songs. Like, listen to Safer from Peacebone single, it's just incredible. Or that On A Highway track they played once at all, in a BBC Session last year - gives me the chills |
I think it is more like 95% of the board can agree they are decent
GREAT is resevred for the TRULY GREAT not fucking animal collective! |

i love that song a lot, one of my favorites of '07. |
Nah, Animal Collective are great. Even when I don't like their music, I can recognize them as a great, unique, melodically satisfing, forward-thinking band. Unlike say Battles or whatever.

Yeah, it's funny because I didn't put STRAWBERRY JAM in my Top 10 albums of 2007, but I think "Peacebone" was my favorite song of 2007. |
i love animal collective. i can understand how some cant like them. what i cant understand is how someone cant like feels. it is such an amazing album. the puprple bottle, loch raven, grass, have you seen... al perfect songs.
and person pitch makes me feel warm and fuzzy. its an album that i can almost always listen to. its not very deep, but it is nocturnaly beautiful |
It's like I always say about pavement.. even if you don't enjoy their music, you have to enjoy at least some of their perfect melodies.
|
I enjoy the AC records I have. I just do not feel anything particularly noteworthy when I am listening to them, hence my designation of AC as a decent band, not something GREAT (IMO of course)
|
I agree Rob.
They are a good band, they've just not did anything properly noteworthy yet. Lots of potential though. |
I think just the fact that they consistently change but continue to make good-to-great albums is particularly noteworthy.
I mean, when I first got into them, they were actually pretty noisey and doing some really weird, dark things.. to see them morph into such a beautiful and melodic unit without "selling out" or having any real major missteps is just mindboggling. It's just purely good music that I think almost anyone can understand. I don't think there's anything challenging about it, yet it's different enough to not be uninteresting to people like us who have heard all types of experimental bands before. Just a great band from every angle. And I hardly even listen to them. |
again, I can't believe I'm saying this... I AGREE WITH ATSONICPARK
|
Fuck 'em. I'd rather dance to proper music that was meant to make people dance. Paedos will like this record alongside your mum.
