Rumour has it that Elijah Wood is gonna play Iggy in a film about his life. you really couldn't make it up.

It seems quite old news. Has anyone heard anything more about this? His wikipedia says it's in pre-production and will be called 'The Passenger'. No mention on IMDB though.

It's still meant to be happening by all accounts. Iggy is supposed to have given it his backing but they had to refinance the movie, hence the delay.

That's all the world needs, a film about Iggy Pop with his "approval" (ie it makes him look to be a tortured genuis, blah blah wank wank). And Elijah "bummed by Gollum" Wood as Iggy? Unbelievable.

Someone, anyone, please make a film about Ron Asheton. I will gladly pay good money to see that.

when it comes to weird casting like this, I'm always suspicious. As though the casting person saw something that we haven't and that press photos do not show. Like Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos.

As much as I dislike him, Anthony Kiedis looks a great deal like Iggy. Granted he is 45.

I don't know why everyone is so against this. He isn't going to look like Frodo, or the way he does in those previously posted pictures.

All I know is that however he ends up looking, he's gonna need to go on the mother of all gym programmes.

oh wow, I was neg repped because I only slightly suggested that Elijah Wood may perhaps make a good Iggy Pop. I rarely care about negative rep but are you serious?

I can't think of anyone who even comes close to the intensity of Iggy.
It would be one of the most physically demanding roles. Just the stage performances would be crazy. You'd have to look like a meth tragedy in the beginning of the film and a wound coil by the end. You might even need two actors to do it properly.

Now who's going to play Lou Reed and Bowie for the film? How about Nico - he reportedly lost his virginity to Nico.

Other casting decisions necessary for an Iggy flick:
Alice Cooper, The MC5, John Sinclair, most of the Andy Warhol crew, Brian Eno, Steve Jones, and John Waters.

And Sonic Youth should do the soundtrack - without question.

If this film does happen, I hope to fuck it isn't the same Nico in Factory Girl. She hardly even looked like her.
