The Problem with U2
 

Is anyone else here tired of U2? I mean come on, sure The Edge , as I hate to call him, is a good guitarist. Good, not great. But let's get serious, I've listened to almost every single U2 record that is considered to be above 3 stars, and I don't see what all the hype is about. They have a couple of ok sounding songs, but above that they do not deserve the recognition they recieve. I'm glad that the band, mostly that pretentious prick Bono, talks about all the different problems concerning the world, but that's what it largely seems to be: talk. Has he ever really done anyhing to help all the injustices he speaks of? Besides the usual charities that a lot of celbrities give to as tax write offs. The guy walks around at night time with fucking sun glasses on. How much more pretentious can you get?

Well, there's my rant. Any feedback is welcome, whether in support of my arguement or rebutting my opinions on them.

whats wrong with u2 is that bono still thinks he's 25. and the chance that he will rip open his shirt and let loose his chest rug is still to high for my liking. plus their last album was so, so bad.

i met dave edge evans a couple of times, top guy. real nice and totally knowledgeable about great music. i was tempted to ask him "is bono really that much of a prick" but when he said he better take this call from mr hewson or ill be in for an ear battery session, that kinda summed it up for me!

Eh. I enjoy making fun of bands because it's entertaining, but I almost never mean it. U2 isn't that fun to insult anymore. It's all been said.

I don't listen to them, but I really don't have anything against them. A lot of people will treat them like the scum of the earth, but I don't see why. It's pop. Pop stars collaborating with other completely unexpected pop stars - that's what pop does. I think Bono is actually sincere in the whole activist arena. There's always something to find wrong in a band, though. The problem with U2 is that it's been scrutinized accentuated because of their fame.
