What an ugly cover, though.
|
yes agreed the cover is ugly but the miusic is damn good!
|
That's too bad. I think I miss out on a lot of new music because of ugly covers. I tend not to buy them.

http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/09/...ive-previ.html As some may know, I've been a longtime Deerhoof proponent, but I was nonplussed to hear the previews. Sorry to poop on the party. This may well turn out to be better than Friend Opportunity, but it will not be as good as The Runners Four or Milk Man. And, of course, I can aver with near certainty that it will not touch Apple O' or Reveille. But hey, that's the way it goes. It's not like I was ever expecting it to be. I really didn't like Green Cosmos at all and things seem to be on a downslide for them. Still, it'll probably still figure into a top fifty or so for the year. But that's not because it'll be all that great but merely simply because it'll be better than a lot else. |
on the group now atari!
yeah, better than friend by a country mile ... on a par with runners four but no, its no apple o thats for sure.. |
I still need to go back into the catalog before I get this one, actually. I don't ahve Apple O aor Reveille.
|
they are the ones for sure... and milk man!
|
Cool, looking forward to it.
|
Runner's Four is my favorite.
My girlfriend calls it a perfect album. While I don't agree with that... I do think every song is brilliant. |

i must spread you know what.. btw, am i the only one who thinks the cover is cool? ![]() |
Eh, the cover doesn't bother me either way.
|

cool cover indeed. sort of Tom of Finlandish hehehe |
What does the main riff in "tears and music of love" sound to all of you?
I can't put my finger on it, it's like a warped version of some other famous riff... it's a really obvious riff.. it's bugging me. It's a Rolling Stones song or AC/DC song or something. |
This Lp amazes me.
Is it me or it's full of BRH reminiscences back to their Touch and GO records? yummy. I like every song on this LP. well done. |
Yeah it's pretty good.
|
AAAANNNDDDD
i also hear some Stereolab thrown in Listen to "Buck and Judy" It's obvious. Same chord changes, harmonies and vibes. nice |
No one answered my question though.
The riff on the first song is like Start Me Up by Rolling Stones I think. |
mmm it's Rolling Stones -ish riff. yes.
shit. So does it mean it automatically sucks then? bah |
Uh.. I dunno, do you think it sucks? Who said anything about sucking?
It's EXACTLY like a warped version of another riff, though, I know it's intentional and that's funny. The album as a whole is pretty decent. |
deerhoof specialize in ugly covers. it's their schtick
|
i mean : If it's Rolling Stones related , it kinda sucks automatically.
cuz the Stones suck, you know i'm only joking am I not? |
my fave song of the Lp is "Eaguru guru'
it's so BRH yesssssssssssss |
and the chords in "Jagged fruit" are so delightfully dissonant
again , very BRH, but Smells like era this time aaargh |
It's like i'm talking to myself.
weird *note to self : ![]() |
