I don't think that he reads the Sonic Youth message board.

HIM said that until there are no longer any first nor second class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, then the dream of lasting peace and world citizen will remain but a fleeting illusion..
to be pursued.. but never obtained. Mr President-Elect, We get it, this is a 'post-racial' society and the Democratic Party would like to apologize for the whole civil war thing and especially for the dixiecrats.. but Mr. Obama, remember, that until there are no longer any first or second class citizens of any nation, there shall be war. You may be black, and American can pretend it is no longer racist with this single, uplifting gesture, however, never forget that the Afghanis are equally people, they are not second class citizens to American security and geopolitical concerns. Remember that Colombians are people, that the Mexicans are people, that the Iranians are people, that the Iraqis are people, the the Indonesians are people, that the Georgians, and the Russians, are all people.. the Congolese, the Somalis, the Ugandans, the Sudanese, these are all people. You must accept peace for the world, and not offer us any more war. Let our hope be not a dream, pray for peace, live for peace, live for love. WAR IS ONLY HATE, EVERYWHERE AND UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCE. Peace and Love, Habte Selassie |

shut up.

point taken. so just because Barack Obama is black means we can no longer challenge the status of war in america? bullshit! If Barack escalates the war in Afghanistan and does not pull troops out of narcowars in Colombia and Mexico, if we do not stop making the Ethiopians fight the somalis by proxy, if we do not address the zionistic tendencies of American policies... all of these geopolitical nightmares will coming crashing home and as it was 40 years ago when American cities finally were burning in the rage and frustration that was caused my Americans forced to go and burn down cities across the world. Just because our President is black does not mean we can still go around fucking things up, and news flash, the Clinton adminstration which Obama is proposing to appoint as his own was as much a war monger administration as any other, if not more so in Africa! |
try:
The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW Washington, DC 20500 or call: Switchboard: 202-456-1414 after January 20th. |

this was what you call an "Open letter" besides, the president has never been one to take his mail very seriously, an example: In 1942 FDR received several personal communications from a very close friend of his, a one Rabbi Stephen Wise, head of the World Jewish Congress, corroborating state department reports that nearly 2 MILLION people had already been mass murdered by the Nazis. The US president refused to believe the report... |
yeah fuck it
the first thing he should do in his mandate is pull the troops out of every country wars are unnecessary anywhere and under any circumstances if there's a place where there is a need to recover and install the democracy its the usa not the middle east |

Once you go Barack, you can never go back! |

yeh that sure would make the situation better. |
Quote:
Yes, only because the US military has not been involved in many of the solutions, only the fucking problems, and that is embarrassing that Americans are forced to go around the world in uniform doing the dirty work. |
Quote:
and so, has this post solved anything? Other than praying and complaining on message boards, have you actually done anything to amend the situation. Did you vote or do you just dismiss all politics and the US government. If you find that the current government is completely corrupt and is the source of so many problems in the world, then the only solution is to overthrow it...oh, I'm sorry. That might involve some kind of aggressive action. Yeah, I guess you're right. War solves nothing. There's never anything worth fighting for. I'm not the kind of person to tell anyone to get out of my country. That's just pathetic...but I AM the kind of person that says, if you don't like it, then fight to change it. |

Communication is the key. If am stuck in front of the computer, then I am communicating to you all out there. If I am on the street then I am communicating to the people. If I am on the bus, or at school, or at work, or getting a bite to eat, or smoking a joint behind a building, or teaching a class to the youth, in all these things, communication is the key. These are more powerful than political machines. If we communicate our ideas, our grievances, our laughs, our petty complaints, then we will find both solace and solution. If we fail to communicate then we are doomed. There is only modern war because the people of the modern world fail to communicate their dissent and inadvertently support war. |
Communication is just a part of it without action nothing happens.

communication is an action, and it is the action that happens within all other activities. |

why is there something so wrong with just voicing your opinion over something political rather than talking shit like most of us do here most of the time? not just directed at you, more just wondering why there is so much angst in this thread about posting yr thoughts on a topic just because it wont necessarily reach the intended target. I think he is aware of this, and aware that any letters he might write wouldn't be read... and is just throwing it out there for discussion. on a discussion board. |
#1 - Because he didn't vote
because he's so against the "shitstem" |
I believe people should all vote
but then I dont believe that if you don't, you shouldnt be allowed to talk politics. imho voting should be compulsary in all democractic governments. |
I believe that if you hate the system so much, you should work to overthrow it and not just talk about how crappy everything is.
|
I'm just tired of hearing about politics. I'm not interested in politcal science.
|
how do you know the life he leads is not one that is completely against the things he dislikes?
or.. you arent then allowed to talk about it at all? who knows, I can';t speak for osmeone else. |
Quote:
yeh so there are lots of other threads to look at. It was more that I didnt get why somene was hit with lots of angst just because they felt like talking about it today. |

surrious. |

actually, I do. |

automated surveillance will surely catch several key words. |
Obama should bring in Dennis Kucinich into his administration.
|
Quote:
Because I've got angst and attitude and I'll throw it to whomever the fuck I want, what are you going to do about it? hmm? shut up. That's what you'll do. or will you? So anyways I'm just bored and wanted to hijack a thread. I don't mean it. You can talk about politics or tell me to shut up and then get kinkier from there if you want :-) |
Denniss Kucinich is too liquidy sounding when you say it out loud.
Go ahead, say it three times fast, four times maybe! What a fucking pond, that guy. |
"Obama," he said, shaking my hand. "Come here and meet Laura. Laura, you remember Obama. We saw him on TV during election night. Beautiful family. And that wife of yours - that's one impressive lady."
"We both got better than we deserve, Mr. President," I said, shaking the First Lady's hand and hoping that I'd wiped any crumbs off my face. The president turned to an aide nearby, who squirted a big dollop of hand sanitizer in the president's hand. "Want some?" the president asked. "Good stuff. Keeps you from getting colds." Not wanting to seem unhygienic, I took a squirt. "Come over here for a second," he said, leading me off to one side of the room. "You know," he said quietly, "I hope you don't mind me giving you a piece of advice." "Not at all, Mr. President." He nodded. "You've got a bright future," he said. "Very bright. But I've been in this town a while and, let me tell you, it can be tough. When you get a lot of attention like you've been getting, people start gunnin' for ya. And it won't necessarily just be coming from my side, you understand. From yours, too. Everybody'll be waiting for you to slip. Know what I mean? So watch yourself." "Thanks for the advice, Mr. President." "All right. I gotta get going. You know, me and you got something in common." "What's that?" "We both had to debate Alan Keyes. That guy's a piece of work, isn't he?" I laughed, and as we walked to the door I told him a few stories from the campaign. It wasn't until he had left the room that I realized I had briefly put my arm over his shoulder as we talked -- an unconscious habit of mine, but one that I suspected might have made many of my friends, not to mention the Secret Service agents in the room, more than a little uneasy. |
