what do you do when your dog dies?
I've never had a dog, and neither has my friend. Yesterday we got into a drunken argument about what you do when your dog dies.
He said that you have to tell the Police which seems bizarre to me; would you tell them if you're goldfish had died? Someone else overheard us and said that you just bury it in your garden, but then their friend got involved and said that you're not allowed to bury it - something to do with a new law after the foot-and-mouth-crisis. I wasn't sure about this, but I did wonder what someone who lived in a flat would do - they can't bury it anywhere, anyway. Surely you don't put a dead dog in the bin? Can anyone on here solve this mystery for me/us? I'm from the UK but I'd be interested to see if there are cultural variations. |
here in belgium you can't just bury him too, you have to take it to the vet and they take care of it (read: cremate)
|
Yeah, you just take it to a vet and they cremate it.
|
I cried, skipped the Melvins show I had tickets for and drank a lot.
|
In the bin, if he's not too big.
Or in a pet cemetary. |
No one who actually loves their dog like a family member puts in the bin, for chrissakes.
You get your friend cremated just like you would if s/he were your mother, and then you grieve for a very long time. For fuck's sake, people. |
I don't think you are technically allowed to bury pets on your urban properties here in MN, but lots of people do it anyway. I'm sure the laws on this vary widely in different states/municipalities.

sounds about right |
noisereductions: i'd go to the Melvins show and drink myself out of reality, kind of agressively grieve for my pet while enjoying the gig.
sorry, may sound not right at all to you, but dude, its the fucking Melvins. i'd go nuts if Yoda the cat dies though. but he's so young and small and cute I hope we'll live together for a long long time anyway. PS never had a dog. |
I hear that local Chinese restraunts will give up to $50 bucks for them. More if they are already skinned.

you want to say Vietnamese or at least Korean. not sure about Korea though. maybe they were eating cats, i may be wrong. it's the Vietnamese that have dog meals in their cuisine (sp?) |
I'd have it stuffed and mounted.
and by that, I mean, have sex with it. |

Damn you are harsh with girlgun. |
I'll bury my cat in my yard. If I happen to outlive her.
|
girlgun is feline.
dogs suck. |
I prefer a pussy over a bitch.
|
when my dog had to be put to sleep it was horrible. the vet had a disposal fee.

Laws vary based on your locality, municipality. I've been through about 5 dog deaths in my life so far. They've happened when the dogs got seriously ill from old age and I chose to "put them down," as they say. The vet took care of the body disposals. Then you basically go home and cry for about a week. |

of course |

my dog is only 2 years old, and i dont want to even think about her dying. But, I think when it does actually happen, Im gonna get her stuffed in a weird position and keep her around the house.
But i think it depends on the dog. Some of these teacup pieces of shit can just be put into a blender or garbage disposal. Plus, theres always gasoline. And lest we forget, any decent sized body of water. |

basically - that's what i've done so far... but i guess there's more options on the table - it's just i liked the way it sounded. you know??? oh hey BTW - I just edited the 3rd MAKING OF clip for IFOU and this time around it's the part of it where we're hanging out with CHOUT in MN... check it out here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyZFeEKeBVc |
Be utterly confused that I had a dog all along and never knew it.

In another related story, my friends 4 month old dog was acting out of character. Rather than being extremely hyper and jumpy, he was calm and he hardly moved, we were all like "Oh it just needs rest, it'll be fine, because he isn't acting sick, just tired." Later that night she got a call and apparently he stopped moving all together and threw up a bunch. They took it to the vet where it died. Apparently it found some moldy food and ate it. SAD, RIGHT? |
sell it to a korean restaurant.

I really wanted my dog to die at home but it was not to be. I was OK when I left the vet's office but a couple hours later I cried really hard; very cathartic. I only cried once more about a month later.
I'm actually a bit surprised at how easy it was. But she was ill for some time so I was able to spend a lot of time with her and felt really good about it. Plus it was really obvious when to put her down--no wondering if I waited too long or did it too soon. Then I waited about 4 months and got another one! I treasure my memories of Su and am having fun creating new memories with Ava. |
You put contact mics inside of its body and use it as a noise instrument.
