Do you have a tinnitus
me not really...
and what about you?? i know, this is a strange thread, whatever... |
Moderately. I can rarely be bothered with the pain of live music these days.
|
After the AMT concert a year ago my ears were ringing almost two days, and that's the only time my ears rang, for a moment I thought it was to stay permanently. At the time I didn't use any plugs, in fact I didn't start using them until january. I like it when it's loud so you're able to "feel" it in your body (I don't mean the low frequencies alone), but at that level it's not really healthy for yr ears anymore, thus the plugs.
|
Sometimes.
|
I don't.
My wife has been diagnosed as possibly having it. But we don't know if it's been caused by damage sustained when hving her ears syringed recently. It started just after, and the nurse has made no record of the visit, which is strange. |
i dont have it as much as i used to but then i did used to go to a lot of shows.
|
I don't, and I feel like I have dodged a bullet.
I wear earplugs at shows all the time now. I don't have ringing, but I definitely have aversions to certain frequencies. |
yes, sometimes. I have taken up wearing earplugs. I've only really had it bad once and that was after seeing two Japanese sludge bands who I forget the names of, they were a Corrupted sideproject. ANyway one was a bass and drum duo and the bass player had 3 massive amps in a room the side of an average kitchen.
It was unreal one of the best shows I've ever seen but my ears rang for two days after. Now I wear earplugs. |
No.
|
Sometimes, after I go to shows my ears ring for 2 or 3 days.
|
I'm really scared of it actually, i always wear earplugs now, even in the shower.
|
After shows usually for the rest of the day. And I get that random 5 second thing occasionally, for no reason.
Also, I don't know if this is common but I can hear a TV on mute from the other side of the house, even when I'm in the shower occasionally, in a very thin tinnitus-like ring, and it spikes when it's turned on or off. I was in a class once and all of a sudden I heard it, and someone else in the class looked around and asked if there was a TV on. Everyone kind of looked at him weird, but I heard it too. Sure enough, someone in this little back room thing - we didn't know anyone was even in there - had turned a TV on with the volume off. Does anyone else have this? I've read that it's common but a lot of people I know don't hear it. |
Yeah, if I'm walking down the road I can hear peoples TV. Not like the sound of the show though, just this weird sound haha.

That's nothing to do with tinnitus - that's having very acute hearing. Which is an incredibly good thing. And surprising if you're a chap, mostly it's women who can hear those higher registers. The ocassional ringing is to do with dehydration - drink more water. |
whats a tinnitus?
|
I'm very fussy when it comes to how i need to hear things.I hate it when music is played through nasty speakers that cut off frequencies that ought to be there and such things.
|
I’ve had tinnitus in my right ear for close to a month now. Not sure what caused it.
|
shit and i thought an old school cool thread was just made.
|
I miss polls.

yes i have tinnitus and anyone who dont either took extreme caution and care or was never a legit n*!$?* in the first place.
|
i don't
my wife though she had it but turns out after medical tests she has superhearing once i had tinnitus for 3 days but after that show i always wore plugs went away thankfully |
I had some hardcore tinnitus for a few years, it eventually went away and was replaced with a parti deafness in one ear.. those few years were rough though. The problem was i developed the ringing from serious abuse and then to try and ignore the ringing i would abuse my ears even more. Too many hours in the studio no ear plugs, to much "practice" at too high a volume, and too much loud music. Again it was a vicious cycle, the loud music caused the damage but silence became unbearable. The ringing came in two tones that would alternate but never stop, ever, once, for several years. I can't honestly remember the day it stopped but i certainly can remember ever second of the torture
|
mine sounds like an old TV that is running without a signal.

i surely had it in various of times in the past. perhaps i still have it and i m used to it and dont notice it. bleh
|
Oh, you KNOW when you have tinnitus. Temporary ringing from a loud concert is NOT the same thing, not by a mile.
|
It can be temporary long time. I have friend who have tinnitus half years, then it went away. He was really glad because it was really bad. I have tinnitus that I hear when there´s totally silent.

oh yeah. |
it annoys me a lot my friends who go to very loud shows (as I do) but REFUSE to wear earplugs (I guess they think they are too cool). i never used to wear them thinking 'it sounds better'. it does not. if you are used to having your ears blasted with sound then it does sound a little strange at first but trust me you will enjoy your music a lot more with earplugs.
i will never understand people who practice with bands or go to loud gigs and don't wear earplugs. YOU ENJOY MUSIC SO PRESUMABLY YOU WANT TO KEEP HEARING IT. people have been driven to suicide by tinnitus. i remember reading a particularly gnarly story about a guy whose hearing became super sensitive so he was like in contant pain from even the quietist sounds. this is what made me start wearing earplugs and i have never looked back. |

I've had a slight ringing in my left ear for about five days. I'm freaking the fuck out.
|
Is it from after a show? Or did it just happen out of nowhere?
|
Nowhere. I wasn't exposed to any loud sound.
I'm almost certain it's just stress. What sucks is I like to sleep with earplugs, and those make the ringing louder. Otherwise it's quiet enough to be ignorable. Have you had it? Have it? |
Yes I have tinnitus. I think I’ve talked about this with someone on this board actually. I wasn’t sure it was tinnitus — and to this day it’s self-diagnosed — but everyone I know with tinnitus say it’s tinnitus. Sounds like pipes are breaking and hissing in my ears, happens periodically, with varying degrees of frequency and severity. Moreso in the last couple years.
I’m sure I got it from spending my twenties in basements playing really loud music with no headphones and going to concerts and blasting music directly into my ear drums every day of my life. I no longer wear headphones. :( |
I have it, but it wasn't from loud music or heavy construction, it's actually from a medical error from one of those fucking doc-in-a-box places. I had an ear infection from seasonal pollen allergic congestion and they cleaned it out using high pressure water instead of vaccuum. Instant tinnitus!
|
God that sucks. I'm not a litigious person, but I'd sue if that happened to me.
Is it in both ears, or just one? Quote:
I wear headphones almost daily for long periods of time, and although I rarely blast music very loud, I wonder if I've been creating a bad environment for my ears. |
