Rancid
Anyone like them at all?
I used to be into them. Thier first three albums weren't that bad.
I remember getting one of their albums for Christmas and I never listened to it. Maybe I should find it?
No. Don't find it. Rancid blows.
roots and radicals is a good tune. i used to like the "and out come the wolves" album. but i dont listen them anymore
Old Rancid is good :D
i used to listen to em, i once stole a shirt of theirs from hot topic.
uh oh
we have a criminal! |
I dont care what anybody says Ruby Soho is the jam ;)
and yes ...and outcome the wolves... im my opinion is there best album there newest one wasnt so bad either i think it was that the hits off it werent so good ..well red hot moon was ok but fall back down wasnt that good |
and out come the wolves is a great album, i still listen to it, not that much lately. it was also my first brush with an indie label, i remember how excited i was to open the cassette and find their mail order catalog. i thought "wow!! they are so punk, only a few bands are sold in stores and for the real deal you have to order it" little did i know...
the last good album i heard of them was the 5th album, it was ok, not that good. now, they are horrendous; they must think they are very punk by turning down a million dollar contract in the mid-90's but settling for a worse deal when they became has-beens. it might also hurt that not only your girlfriend sold more records than you having been in a band for least time and having less records released andf have her publictly cheat on you |

I think he's going to need some Aloe Vera for that BURN! |
I used to listen to them.....I'd rather listen to OP Ivy though.
op ivy were awesome!!!!!
They are great to drink to at a party.
sweet band. love the bass lines. best punk rock bassist of all time
yeah he definatley is really good
I haven't heard their stuff yet, but my friend's giving me one of their CD's next week :)
I find Rancid boring, derivative, and purely incidental. I did and do enjoy OP Ivy a lot more.

rancid's matt freeman's bass technic comes from franc'o, the original bassist for mdc, a san francisco-by-way-of-austin hardcore band from the early 80's. just listen to the opening of john wayne was a nazi and you'll see what i'm talking about. i too thought he was the raddest bassist in punk until i heard mdc and learned that matt freeman was mdc's bassists in the late 80's, before joining op ivy so i call bullshit on the argument that matt freeman is the best bassist in punk. klaus floride, steve soto and chuck dukowski (to name just three) can piss circles around any of rancid's basslines |
haha, that was fun. i saw mdc a few months back live. i still maintain he's my favorite punk bassist to listen to.
sucks
If you don't like ...And Out Come The Wolves then you simply hate pop music. There is no excuse only because the hooks are endless. Listening to it now in 2018 after years of absence it sounds like The Hold Steady on crack. Give it another listen, friends.
The Hold Steady are also irredeemably bad, though.
Menudo is irredeemably bad.

It figures that a guy named after a Seinfeld reference would enjoy the E Street Band as fronted by George Costanza.

I just had to look up The Hold Steady, they are truly abysmal! But the above is one of the most succinct descriptions of a band I have come across. |

Seriously though, you really like that stuff?
Rancid are worse than The Hold Steady, and The Hold Steady are even worse than Rancid.

I like you, but you're still wrong. Soup Nazi all over my lips!!!! |
Rancid are a bunch of cosplayers who werent honest enough to admit it.

It is my favourite |
Interesting old thread. I have never seen this one...
Seeing Rancid during And Out Come the Wolves... tour is still hands-down, EASILY in my top 10 shows of all time. Sure, I was like 15-16 at the time, but I still love that album to this day, and holy fuck the excitement and energy in the air at that show was on another level. |
