Do you like CocoRosie?
Yeah? No?
I've never listened to them. |
They're okay. Not really my kinda music. I talked extensively online to a girl from Canada. We sent each other emails and stuff. We played music for each other sometimes over the phone and I managed to hear this band a lot. That's a whole other topic, that chick from Canada, but anyway.
They're not really something I'd feel the need to waste my time on, but they're pleasant and not offensively bad or anything. |
Thei first Lp "La Maison de mes Reves" is pretty nice.
The rest is meh IMHO |
Some of the worst music I have ever heard in my entire life. I was forced to sit through one of their performances a few years ago, and I was literally twitching with rage by the the time they were about halfway through their set. Unlistenable.
|
today, the elusive ms. sonicpark finds out about "that chick from Canada".
on topic: I wish I could play music that made people twitch with rage; alas, my talents lie in posting. |
If it makes you feel any better, your posts have the same effect.

I am so filled with rage.
|
Aren't they basically just Joanna Newsom x2?
I'll pass. |
I fucking hate that pussysoft warbling tweefolk bullshit
|
I don't dislike them
|
How come TG have released Negative Approach, Big Black, Killdozer, and then this?
|
Maybe because they're interested in releasing a variety of (relatively speaking) good bands and not just bands that fall under one category.
Actually... Taking a wild guess, but besides that YYY Ep they released, CocoRosie is probably their biggest selling act ever. So, maybe that's it. |
This will also successfully piss off kids' parents. Especially if those parents grew up listening to Big Black.
|
I'd hit it.

I've only just now listened to a few tracks of CocoRosie. I have to say, the lot of you really need to get over your dislike of music that girls/ normal people might like. Obviously, they're achingly hip, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Remember, Sonic Youth were achingly hip for about ten cultural minutes.
|
Yeah, this band's really not that bad. Better than Animal Collective, for example.
|
I'm open-minded toward music that does not contain the World's Most Irritating Vocals as its focal point, with a lame ironic hip-hop number at the end of the set.
|
At least you actually listened to them.
A lot of people are quick to write off bands just because of their fanbase or their association with a particular scene or style or whatever. Also, Green Magnesium, Joanna Newsom fucking rules! |

It is possible not to like a certain musical artist without being accused of "closed-mindedness." That is so tiresome. It's called personal taste. Good god. If you carry this to its logical conclusion, being "incredibly open-minded" just makes you into an aesthetic shit-sponge. |
Writing off music without ever listening to it is being close-minded. Listening to it and forming an opinion is not being close-minded. See the difference?
How many people here would honestly sit down and listen to a jpop record from beginning to end, even if a lot of trustworthy good-taste-having people would reccomend it to you? Pretty much none of the board. "Duh, it's pop and bright and happy fuck dat shit fuck dat." No interest whatsoever. I actually sit down, listen to a song or two by an interest, and then form an opinion about them before I reply to threads. It's something I do. Besides, I already said.. you actually listened to them. So, you have your opinions. That's great. I wasn't even referring to you in my post anyway. |
Yeah.
I was astonished at how much the crowd LOVED them at the show I saw. I think my friend and I were the only ones in the place who were in agony. |

The non-man-looking one.

I have listened to several albums of theirs and I fucking hate them with a rage reserved ussually for Kobe Bryant or Thomas Kinkade.
fucking boring pap-smear folk |
Rob you seem pretty against music that doesn't contain ROCKING OUT!
Haha I'm joking. Anyway, I listened to the songs on their myspace and I like them... not amazing, but it's pretty and pleasant. (Oh and Joanna Newsom does fucking rule indeed) |
I need my rock n roll to ROCK OUT.
If I am contemplative or not in the RAWKIN mood I go for my large selection of Jazz/classical/blues/funk records. I have to sit and listen to cocorosie when they coem up on my g/f's ipod in her car. suck what makes me laugh a laugh of ridiculousness and unbelief is how manytimes a week I see a car drive by with a dude inside jammin out LOUD, just BLASTING some slow-jam R&B bullshit woman weep-fest. |
I really really like them.
saw them 2 times and both times were really strange and really good. I also enjoyed the tez beatbox solo minutes a lot |
no punk no fun!
|
C-c-c-c-collagen rock.

I like 'em quite a bit, especially Ghosthorse & Stillborn. Curious to see what they do next, the single they put out a year or so was very...uh...Lillith Fair.
|
^Î agree, that single was really not good
|
in a way cute music, so why not.
|
I love Rob Instigator.
That's my conclusion of this thread. |
