So, What'sTheMostUnashamedlyBallsOutCocaineSnortingAmp sTo11RawkAlbumOnGod'sEarth?

Boris- Absolutego

demonrail666 05.22.2009 03:03 AM

Sorry, I needed to be more specific in the title. Nothing by Japanese people, and nothing on an independent label.

So ... reset.

blunderbuss 05.22.2009 03:06 AM

Oh, so not High Rise - Live then.

In that case it's something you've already got by Motorhead or AC/DC, I expect.

max 05.22.2009 03:13 AM

probably SONGS FOR THE DEAF by QOTSA, but you might have that one already.

MellySingsDoom 05.22.2009 03:23 AM

Eagles of Death Metal - "Death By Sexy"

demonrail666 05.22.2009 03:24 AM

OK, I'm withdrawing the no Japanese/Indie label rule, albeit reluctantly.

Seriously? Worth a punt you think?

atsonicpark 05.22.2009 03:25 AM

Tough one.

I'd get the Cutthroats 9 s/t album.

I just watched some stuff on youtube and straightaway thought they sounded like they were ripping off Unsane ... and then I realised! :o

Completely not what I'm looking for in this instance, but that Konono thing is flipping amazing.

I just watched some stuff on youtube. Too ironic.

atsonicpark 05.22.2009 03:55 AM

When I want to "rock", I just put on mass of fermenting dregs or number girl. Can't get that stuff on amazon though.

demonrail666 05.22.2009 04:21 AM

think more in terms of iron crosses, bullet belts and umlauts. Motorhead x 10 is what I'm after.

summer 05.22.2009 04:26 AM

Fuck, I dunno if this is actually what you're wanting but..

High on Fire- The Art of Self Defense
Kyuss- Blues for the Red Sun

YES! More like that! I have those, but EXACTLY!

summer 05.22.2009 04:38 AM

In that case, I got nothin', and would be interested in hearing others' responses cause I love those albums.

blunderbuss 05.22.2009 05:20 AM

Are there any decent albums out there where someone has built up something almost symphonic out of samples of heavy metal riff? Kind of like the Slayer bits that Alec Empire used in one of Atari Teenage Riot's tracks, or like Young Gods were doing at one point, but more, and heavier, and without the shouty bits. And little or no soloing. Just forty minutes of relentless riff. Grayfolded, but using Slayer.

Surely there must be something like that?

If there is, then I recommend it to you Mr Demonrail - and request to be told what it is.

terminal pharmacy 05.22.2009 07:07 AM

Meshuggah's Obzen is pretty good but there are a few chessy guitar sounds

greedrex 05.22.2009 07:13 AM

this on coke is good:

i'm not sure that was the question though...

Toilet & Bowels 05.22.2009 07:41 AM

demonrail666 05.22.2009 10:19 AM

...Thinking aloud on this one ... were (pre-shit) Metallica America's Motorhead?

floatingslowly 05.22.2009 10:46 AM

^^^ I'm not answering that question.

I'm happy having my kegmama rep as a positive value.

blunderbuss 05.22.2009 10:48 AM

"Pre-Shit" = Up to and including Master of Puppets?

Not that the answer to that question matters -

Metallica started out influenced by NWOBHM, and didn't even try that hard to be anything other than a US NWOBHM band - Motorhead started out as just Motorhead, and weren't especially trying to be anything other than what they were.

Metallica have always had to try too hard to be dirty and ugly, while dirty and ugly is what defines Motorhead, with no effort on their part whatsoever.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, Metallica are a bunch of poseurs, while Motorhead are the real deal.

The nearest that Metallica and Motorhead have come to equality is on "1916"(?), and that was only because Motorhead reduced themselves to Metallica's level.

greedrex 05.22.2009 11:10 AM

^^ Master of puppets was pretty good, no???
I'm no metal specialist, but still....

floatingslowly 05.22.2009 11:53 AM

^^^ I'd but up to "Garage Days Re-revisted" into the "pretty good" category.

after that, they started to try too hard to be clean and pretty.

summer 05.22.2009 12:26 PM

Metallica's "Load" was pretty cool. It isn't what you're looking for at all but still it is a good album.

atsonicpark 05.22.2009 12:31 PM

I like every Metallica album.

Toilet & Bowels 05.22.2009 06:19 PM

Dead-Air 05.22.2009 07:24 PM

I still can't find anything that outdoes Sabbath's Master of Reality in this category. My next pick would be Space Ritual by Hawkwind.

Death & the Maiden 05.23.2009 01:51 AM

With this band, Ed Kuepper wanted to return to the sound and energy of one of his previous bands, The Saints; however, The Aints were very different to The Saints, the latter was basically a three chord punk band, but The Aints did 5 or 6 minute epics, layered with many distorted guitars. The album titled came from Coltrane and the album art came from Funhouse.
