We thought we’d run out of Sonic Youth bonus LPs for our Buy Early Get Now campaign, but we discovered we had 200 extra! For those of you on the fence about ordering, you can still go to the Matador Store to place your preorder.

You'll get an instant code to access the extras currently available on the BEGN site, and your album, poster and bonus LP will arrive on or before June 9.

Second bonus MP3 goes live on Tuesday, June 2, and we can now announce there will be a third MP3 after release.

I'm curious as to what the next two bonus mp3s will be, i just noticed that the album can be preordered on iTunes and it includes a bonus instrumental track called "Burning Shame", so is this being offered thru the BEGN as well or is it exclusive for iTunes preorders???

re: iTunes bonus preorder track. Any and all such extras will be made available to Buy Early Get Now participants down the line. For the time being this one needs to be exclusive to iTunes, but when we get it back (probably 90 days after release), we'll email all BEGN people to let them know that it's available from the site.

Tuesday's track will be "Catholic Block (1987 demo)."

The post-release track will be "Machine."

That would be supergolden. If it's not in Matador/BEGN's plans, it SHOULD be. Not that I don't prefer vinyl, mind you, but since you already teased us with that "Silver Rocket" FLAC, ya shouldn't leave us without the rest of the digital set, you dig...

Well, if they don't release them, I'm sure there will be other methods of getting them. But, it would make sense, and be nice, if we didn't have to go thru that trouble.

ITunes is a drag. I understand them getting an exclusive track to spread the love around but it's not lossless! They've taken 50+ years of recording technology and thrown it all away. Leaving the lossless option out of the equation on their part is one of the main reasons there's so much pirating going on. I'd slam my money down and suck the album out of ITunes for the bonus if it wasn't compressed.

ITunes should be boycotted until they get their act together and offer FLAC files.

You're so right. Nobody understands sound quality less than tech people.

Yeah. I can't order it because shipping alone for me costs $55, bringing the total to $90, and unfortunately I need to eat if I want to stay alive long enough to get my $90's worth,....

Like a fool worthy of being pitied by men with huge-ass golden chains, only today I realized "Silver Rocket" isn't on the live vinyl LP but does appear on the Japanese live CD, which is why the band gave us that particular lossless track via BEGN. Contrary to my personal policies, I shot from the hip instead of looking for a logic pattern, so I apologize for having been such a mook.

Have you seen the track list comparison of the two? Is Silver Rocket the only difference? Is there anything on the LP that's not on the Japanese CD?

Good point - as far as I know it's the very same tracklist, except for SR. Folks who already received their copy can help you know; I'm waiting for my package to be mailed by my contact in the U.S. of A.
