All you need now is "Rock and Rule."

I needed ideas. I looked up some of the movies mentioned and I saw David Lynch on the 'you might enjoy this too' list. That reminded me that I wanted to see those movies.

luxinterior 06.19.2006 06:02 PM

Why is it that I feel like one of the few people on here who does not care much for David Lynch. Most of his movies have really disappointed me.

Alex's Trip 06.19.2006 06:05 PM

I haven't seen any of them...

luxinterior 06.19.2006 06:09 PM

Then I think you should judge for yourself, and I'll stop whining.

Alex's Trip 06.19.2006 07:50 PM

Any more suggestions?

alyasa 06.19.2006 07:52 PM

Brazil by Terry Gilliam

acousticrock87 06.19.2006 07:54 PM

If you're gonna watch Mullholand Drive and Eraserhead, just get another Lynch movie.

I disagree. You're going to be so sick of David Lynch if you watch three of his movies in a row.

Rent But I'm A Cheerleader and have yourself a gay old time.

acousticrock87 06.19.2006 08:00 PM

I actually don't like Lynch, but he seems to be looking for a certain type of movie, so I dunno.

Last night I posted about this, but Songs from the Second Floor is really good. It does have Lynchian qualities, but with actual content. It's subtitled, though.

luxinterior 06.19.2006 08:07 PM

Three just seem like overkill. Even he doesn't know if he'll like Lynch. If he watches one and hates it, well too bad for him, because they'll already be in his mailbox.

Alex's Trip 06.19.2006 09:22 PM

What about Woody Allan movies? I haven't seen any...

Amaranth 06.19.2006 10:17 PM

Happy Accidents (this movie is awesome, just get it, or read about it first, it is great)
Eternal Sunshine of A Spotless Mind ( was mentioned, but so good that I will recoment it too if you havent seen it yet)
Short Circuit (yes an oldie but goodie, definately worth watching again if you have seen it many years ago)

I also am unimpressed with david Lynch. I fucking HATED Mullholland Drive; horriable!

OH! A few more good movies:

Killing Zoe
Run Lola Run
Window To Paris

umjammer atomsk 06.19.2006 10:25 PM

I've only seen these Woodies:

Annie Hall
Love and Death
Sleeper
Stardust Memories
Zelig
Everything You...
Mighty Aphrodite

It really is. I was just about to say the same.

Alex's Trip 06.20.2006 12:36 AM

What about Annie Hall? I've heard good things about it. I'll put Match Point on the queue after I get that.

I've seen all the Kevin Smith movies except for Chasing Amy and Jersey Girl. I'll get the former next time around.

I've seen Eternal Sunshine. Good movie. Now if only Jim Carrey would stop his stupid antics and start doing more movies like this.

schizophrenicroom 06.20.2006 12:37 AM

yeah, annie hall is amazing.

jersey girl was ok (mostly for the beginning, but i won't spoil it).

Are you saying you aren't a fan of the cinematic classic Dumb & Dumber? Because if I were president, that sort of thing could get you killed.

acousticrock87 06.20.2006 12:49 AM

I just rented Clockwork last week. I was expecting a West Side Story-esque musical. Wow. It wasn't.

Those were the classics though. There are the classics, and then there are recycled regurgitated versions of the same antics in crappier stories such as Fun with Dick and Jane. I also really hated his stupid antics in the Lemony Snicket thing.

Ah, okay then. I see we're on the same page, yet I insist on picking fights prematurely.

That book changed my life. It marked a turning point in the type of books I read. The movie kind of did the same in its own way. Every year I read at least one book or see one movie that just really does it for me all over again.

krastian 06.20.2006 02:25 AM

I think everybody should watch Clockwork around 6th grade like I did.....the quicker you learn how insane everything is the better.
