Sonic Youth will perform on the David Letterman show Wednesday June 10.

I'm guessing What We Know or Antennae.

I think there won't be problems in getting a recording, shows like these are regularly shared (even in hd where doable) on a number of torrent sites. The "annoying" thing is just that they obviously release the whole show rather than just the SY part.

on the letterman site there is no other listed guest other than SY (like every other day has 2 or 3 other guests) so maybe we'll get a couple songs in or an interview?

lee's guitar on that song is incredible. pure noise bliss a bit "hidden" in the mix (rightfully so, considering the whole "vibe" of the song), if you listen just to the left channel it's aaaaaaaargh great.

Anti-Orgasm would be awesome.

I like some other songs better, but there are definitley nice touches in many of them!
p.s. I'm still a bit bothered by the panning vocals in poison arrow :p

i forgot until i started watching conan. the musical guest is rancid on late night, and i was all, "rancid? boo-urns. i wish somebody good was on."

"... OH WAIT. LETTERMAN!"

I feel the same way. In some aspects I feel like Poison Arrow is their "strongest" track in years (oddly enough, perhaps in part due to some youtube video some guy from French Canada made (and everytime I hear that dischordant part of the song, I think of hot, dark-complexioned tree-trimmers swinging from branches of pollarded street trees)), but I don't think it's my "favorite" on the album ("Calming the Snake," "Leaky Lifeboat," etc. coming in as strong contenders). As far as the panning vocals, I felt kind of the same, but have decided to err on the side of "genious." As far as studio expertise that's pretty basic; but get stoned and imagine their faces moving back and forth like two large moons (on an exotic planet that has two moons [think the Dark Crystal] (and not in unison--more like a person's hands while they're doing the "Charleston")) over a sea of churning guitars, all the while taunting you with "Who? Who?? Who???" Like Whack-a-mole in your ears.

Altogether a solid performance. I like the little effect two-footy thing Thurston does during the song.
