was this posted? sorry if it was.

from Facebook:

SONIC YOUTH ON LETTERMAN

Sonic Youth will perform on the David Letterman show Wednesday June 10.

anyone from american boardies planning to record it in full quality?

andrei 06.08.2009 06:09 AM

yeah, that would be great.

EDIT

I've asked a trading buddy for a HDTV recording. Fingers crossed :D

Jeremy 06.08.2009 07:09 AM

I wonder what song they'll play? I'm hoping Antenna personally, or at the least not Sacred Trickster.

~Jeremy~

atsonicpark 06.08.2009 07:31 AM

I'm guessing What We Know or Antennae.

nicfit 06.08.2009 07:56 AM

I think there won't be problems in getting a recording, shows like these are regularly shared (even in hd where doable) on a number of torrent sites. The "annoying" thing is just that they obviously release the whole show rather than just the SY part.

eternal 06.08.2009 10:55 AM

on the letterman site there is no other listed guest other than SY (like every other day has 2 or 3 other guests) so maybe we'll get a couple songs in or an interview?

im not really sure how letterman works, i hate that bastard

greenlight 06.08.2009 12:35 PM

yeah, they might perform more then one tune then. that would be cool.

guitarpro 06.08.2009 03:34 PM

It be cool to see Lee do a song on Letterman.

mil_pl 06.08.2009 04:51 PM

It will be Thunderclap this time.

automatic bzooty 06.08.2009 06:12 PM

massage the history, please? or anti-orgasm?

they'll probably play trixter, antenna, or what we know.

TheMadcapLaughs 06.08.2009 06:17 PM

nothing against antenna or sacred trixter but i really hope they dont play those songs

vacuum noise 06.09.2009 01:37 AM

so far Im voting for Malibu gas station, that would be rad... but ill b satisfied with whatever they do. My friend was joking that theyr just going to play Death Valley 69'!

chrome noise tape 06.09.2009 01:49 AM

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.09.2009 03:38 PM

Anti-Orgasm would be awesome.

best sounding song on the album.

nicfit 06.09.2009 03:42 PM

I like some other songs better, but there are definitley nice touches in many of them!
p.s. I'm still a bit bothered by the panning vocals in poison arrow :p

SYRFox 06.09.2009 03:49 PM

I want some Anti-Orgasm.
Though I think it will be either Sacred Trickster or What We Know (which is fine for me as well...)

deflinus 06.09.2009 04:04 PM

a LOUD version of Leaky Lifeboat is what i hope for

Although Id like more of a surprise it will probably be sacred trickster tonight. Id love to be proven wrong with a performance of antenna or anti-orgasm, THURSTON, ARE YOU LISTENING?

pantophobia 06.10.2009 06:36 PM

according to John Agnello who is in attendance, he twittered it was Sacred Trickster

automatic bzooty 06.10.2009 06:37 PM

aaaaaaaaaaargh, i love sacred trickster, but i wanna hear something else live.

joe11121 06.10.2009 08:06 PM

I'm excited to see this tonight!

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 06.10.2009 09:29 PM

show starts up in about an hour.

Alexander 06.10.2009 10:00 PM

Poison Arrow or Malibu Gas Station would be great

automatic bzooty 06.10.2009 10:49 PM

i forgot until i started watching conan. the musical guest is rancid on late night, and i was all, "rancid? boo-urns. i wish somebody good was on."

"... OH WAIT. LETTERMAN!"

I feel the same way. In some aspects I feel like Poison Arrow is their "strongest" track in years (oddly enough, perhaps in part due to some youtube video some guy from French Canada made (and everytime I hear that dischordant part of the song, I think of hot, dark-complexioned tree-trimmers swinging from branches of pollarded street trees)), but I don't think it's my "favorite" on the album ("Calming the Snake," "Leaky Lifeboat," etc. coming in as strong contenders). As far as the panning vocals, I felt kind of the same, but have decided to err on the side of "genious." As far as studio expertise that's pretty basic; but get stoned and imagine their faces moving back and forth like two large moons (on an exotic planet that has two moons [think the Dark Crystal] (and not in unison--more like a person's hands while they're doing the "Charleston")) over a sea of churning guitars, all the while taunting you with "Who? Who?? Who???" Like Whack-a-mole in your ears.

DeadDiscoDildo 06.10.2009 11:29 PM

^^haha...what dude?

automatic bzooty 06.10.2009 11:33 PM

One Commercial Break Between Us And Soniks.

automatic bzooty 06.10.2009 11:34 PM

aw man, capslock filter. i was yelling.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 06.10.2009 11:35 PM

Sacred Trickster.

Damnit, Letterman already has his copy.

I feel like I'm going to be last person in the world to get a copy. Stupid Matador. :P

I won't have mine until next Wednesday, but I ordered from store.

Sonic Youth 37 06.10.2009 11:40 PM

Altogether a solid performance. I like the little effect two-footy thing Thurston does during the song.
