The Best Release Week Ever?
So today was the day Eternal got the official release. We also got a new Placebo and Dirty Projectors album which isn't too shabby either. I want to know what the best week ever was for official releases. Enlighten me.
|
Placebo still exists?
Dirty Projectors' dude annoys the fuck outta me |
Placebo? Something tells me I wouldn't be including them as a standout in any "best release week ever." I do like the Dirty Projectors album, funnily enough. They're trying to be Beyonce on that one single.
|
The single was the only song I liked on there because the dude shut the fuck up
|
Didn't say today was the best release week ever. Just looked and saw what got released, but there has to be something that sticks out in history as a great release week, no?
|
Didn't Varg get released too?

that was last week, varg.
otherwise, release week fail. |
You all forgot the new Mos Def album.
|
I'm glad I forgot the new Mos Def album!

I was doing my best trying to. You just spoilt it by reminding me. |
Placebo? Seriously?
|
It's a little known fact that I used to have a bit of a crush on Brian Molko. Shame that his music has been consistently bleedin' useless. I mean, he sounds like he's constantly bunged up with a cold. Give that God-botherer a Vicks Sinex, for crying out loud.
|
I love placebo but even with pain in my heart I must say their newest is a gaint let down. It sounds empty, hollow and I heard it all before a million times.
|
The SY is good.

??? I mean sure, the last two were varying degrees of shitty, but I think that Black Star and Black On Both Sides should be sufficient to cut the guy a little slack. I haven't heard the new one yet, but I'll always check out what Mos is up to sooner later. |
As much as I enjoy the first 2 (and 4th) Placebo albums, everything else they've done has been complete shit...
|
I hate meds.

My main problem with Placebo is that they're overplayed. They have some tunes I like, but they're played so much everywhere that no matter what you do you can't avoid them and they just become boring. I used to like The Bitter End for instance, but too much is too much.
Plus the fact their last albums suck. And, I'm not ashamed to say it, but I have the same problem with Coldplay. I know all of you think they're the most worthless band ever and all that, but I still think their two first albums had some neat tunes, but I've heard them so much that I can't stand them anymore. |
yeah those first 2 coldplay albums are ok. sometimes i think that if chris martin was a low profile celeb and media didnt like/aired em much id feel much more comfortable listening to their music. i know, sounds odd.
|
Now if you want a perfectly worthless band, you've got it: Muse. Worst band ever imho.
Well, except for The Mars Volta, of course |
Muse is cool, I used to love them but I've grown over it a bit. Seeing them live in 2006 was great, but yeah it's the biggest love it or hate it band around now throught their prog sounding pop-rock.
It's funny you guys are talking about the first two coldplay album, I dig them also(see the bands you hate thread). Lovely popsongs played on paino and ussual bandset-up with real joy. I am not ashamed to say I have both the tour editions of their first two in my collection(even I never saw them live). Amsterdam brings just tears to my eyes. |
I'm embarrassed to admit that I quite liked Placebo around the time of 36 Degrees & Teenage Angst. Hearing Nancy Boy being played fucking everywhere for about a year soon cured me of that though.
|
What's wrong with placebo?
I still think their first three albums are golden. |
the first TWO are great.
Black Market has about 5 good songs. The rest of their output is horrible and their last one (just out) is so horrible / terrible i can hardly find words to describe how it sucks the baboon's testicles. |

Molko, mostly. And everything else too. |
I think most of the people who hate Placebo are in Europe, because they don't get as much exposure here.
I for one think they're OK, but I've never felt the desire to get any of their stuff. |
Nah, they fucking love 'em in mainland Europe - when I was in Barcelona the other week I saw a poster for some festival that had them headlining above Kraftwerk. Had to double-take, I tell ya.
|
I've said it one and Ill say it again - when it comes to Benelux rock, Placebo are the missing link between Golden Earring and the Smurfs.

Don't ever say anything bad about them in front of Nukie (you know who). Will explain. |
