Tough one. Mote's good, but I really dig Dirty Boots for its sonic energy and for the vid that's kind of a summary of grunge cliches. Kool Thing is also, well, very kool.

It's Mote vs. Dirty Boots...I gotta go with Dirty Boots because I don't like the studio version of Mote as much as the live performances I've heard.

Disappearer

I voted Disappearer. It's not that I think it's the best (Cinderella's Big Score! Mildred Pierce! Scooter+Jinx! The first minute of Tunic! Mote! Titanium Expose! (with it's excellent Kim/Thurston makeout in the vid!)); I'd just hate to see it go on the first count, it's a class A song and it's gotta be the most visually appealing SY single out there (Death Valley '69 is class as well in that domain).

Disappearer sounds a lot like Dirty. I'm not a big fan of that CD.

mildred pierce, I love the intro. I hate the whole screaming fit thing.

It's a pity Mildred Pierce might have to leave first round joining My Friend Goo and Mary-Christ, since compared to those and in my silly opinion, it's 'hors categorie'. Not so much as a 'Let Mildred Pierce survive this round' campaign kind of thing, but as a last tribute to a wonderful song. Here goes.

(music starts) "Mildred Pierce" (music builds up more) (the storyline unravels) (it's beautifully repetitive) (builds up more and more) (feels as if speed's trying to build up along the way, slowly slowly, but is being held back) (try more) (and more) (screaming fit!) (the whole thing comes down hard and ugly) ! (it's the perfect predecessor for the first slow expanding notes that come next with the acclaimed Cinderella's Big Score)
