If I wasn't already going to the one the week before, I'd be going to this one. Instead I'm going to have to hope for some shows in London in the few days either side (particularly Bardo Pond and Shellac).
|
i think i'd prefer to go to this one instead Nightmare before Christmas. But since i've already got my ticket for the abovementioned, there's nothing to doubt now.
|
Most people I've spoken with seem quite vexed about this and how it was announced, compounded by the somewhat disengenuous sounding explaination that it was only considered and put together after the first weekend proved so popular.
I can't go to either so I pretty much hate everyone involved or attending. Definately a bit of a spluttery way to kick off your tenth anniversary. dammit, both are going to be amazing. |
I'm doing this one. Would have preferred them to have held the anniversary weekend next May though - a week and a half before Xmas is hardly ideal, and given that the first one was May 2000, isn't this more like 9.5 years of ATP?

10 yrs already? bollocks. if one of u kind humans will fly me out & let me power down at ur flat im going. |
Will be there, going with my youngest brother :)
|
yeah, i'm more inclined to get tickets for this weekend rather than the mbv curated one.
|
With only 6 (out of 22) acts for me to be interested in, I think I'll pass.

About the same for me as well. |

whatever you think of the line up i don't think it is possible to not have a good time at atp, unless you are deliberately trying |
they just added The Magic Band.
and Porn. |
and Sunno))), Tall Firs and OM!
|
Yeah, Porn were one of my highlights from last year as well... I really need to get my ticket this week.
I saw Om with the new drummer at the Release The Bats show last year and wasn't overly impressed. |

any time honey. :)
|
Nefeli, I thought I recognised you at one point on saturday night, wasn't completely sure it was you at the time though.
Anyway, it was a really fun weekend. My highlights were: Growing, Six Organs of Admittance, Deerhoof, Sunn playing Monoliths and Dimensions (probably my favourite set of the weekedn as well), Mudhoney, and Lightning Bolt. I'm gutted I missed Bardo Pond and Melvins |
how was the magic band?

I only saw a few minutes of them, too short to really judge. But I can say that they really weren't what I needed right after seeing Shellac. My highlights: Shellac - they were playing two shows and both were oh so awesome. so tight. so funny. Bardo Pond - maybe the only band who were just as good during the weekend compared to the In Between Days. MASSIVE. Six Organs of Admittance - Good show. Wasn't in a good spot, but it sounded very good. Where did Elisa go? She was playing with them when I saw them 2 weeks earlier. Ah well, at least that meant that Chasny was playing all the solos. Afrirampo were fun, much fun. Pity they were playing the Pavillion stage and clashing with OM. Porn were really good, nice intro for Melvins. Melvins were amazing, it took me ages to appreciate them (didn't like them the first 3 times I saw them), but since 2008 I'm a fan of their live shows. SunnO))) - I thought I was completely done with these guys, but they won me over again with the Monoliths & Dimensions shows at ATP and in London the day after. What impressed me most was Atilla's throat singing (I noticed this even more at the London show). The Grimmrobes performance on Saturday seemed a lot more boring, but luckily I was already very drunk at that time (at 2:30 am). Lots of fun dancing in Crazy Horse during both weekends. Best dance tune in Crazy Horse: The Castaways - Liar Liar I must have danced to that at least 4-5 times during the whole 10 days, it's officially my ATP song now. Best random celebrity encounter: Standing outside a friends' chalet and seeing King Buzzo walk down the stairs out of the chalet above. I shook his hand and mumbled something, he said thanks and see ya. It was a deep and meaningful exchange of thoughts. random complaint: The beer was too watery (I really noticed this with the first beer on the MBV weekend and then I just got used to it) |
