the best mars volta song ever!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHYYu6uuOU8
Oh man. Seriously, one of the funniest things I've ever seen. |
ha ha!
hey adam, is that your boy_howdy? ![]() |
IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm in love! |
ha ha I knew I'd make you smile.
|
That was actually a lot better than the actual Mars Volta. Sounds like The Magic Band fronted by a third-rate Yoko Ono trying to imitate Damo Suzuki.
"The microphone is on." |
The sad part is that it sounds like all the instrument clips were taken from actual Mars Volta songs.
|
Oh yeah, this is definitely better than anything they've ever actually recorded. Kinda weird to think about.
When he jumps around to "the microphone is on but nothing else is on", I lost it. |
I thought this was real for about 30 seconds.
|
Sounds like Scissor Shock!
|
^^^ I was actually going to reply "this reminds me of scissor shock - the mars travolta" on the video but I didn't.
|
I think I will now though.
|
you did!...fuckin funny...sounds like the warlords of pez
|

hahaha funny stuff. |
that shit was fucking great
|
I shat to the NIN one.
|
By the way, when I read the thread title I knew it was going to be something funny. Adam saying something good about The Mars Volta... Yeah right!
|
Hahahahaha! Holy shit, these are awesome!
|
These are fucking priceless. They often get pulled from YouTube for whatever reason.
David Letterman is such a douchebag. Firstly, he treats some of his guests like shit. Secondly, he called the Mars Volta talented AND musicians. |
I can't stand TMV. They act as if what they do is incredibly groundbreaking, but fail to realise that there are many, many bands doing many, many greater things.
|
I had never seen this band in action before and thanks to this clip I can't help but notice that Mars Volta look like the cast of Ugly Betty with instruments. The frontman resembling Ugly Betty herself.
The producers should totally have them guest star on the show. Some sort of identity mishap could ensue. |
hahahahaha.
|
i dont get all the hate for tmv? i mean, theyre not the greatest band out there, but theyre interesting and make some fresh (albeit pompous) music.
this isnt a phenomenon located in this forum either. most other forums i stalk talk shit about them too. |
At The Drive-In layed down why the Mars sucks. Mars is like prog-rock, the boring long irritating the fuck out of me with long jams 'see what I all can do with a guitar/drum/vocals' kind.
At The Drive-In where a killer band because they didn't drown in jams and layed down some epic albums and songs. The Mars just doesn't do it for me at all. |
Jerf, it's probably because they're a lousy prog band that gets lots of attention and are worshipped, generally, by people who have never heard a Koenjihyakkei record and therefor don't know what real prog rock is. There's nothing wrong with liking them, of course, but people who act like they are godhead could probably broaden their horizons a bit.
|
idk, it just seems like people really really hate them.
like, more than nickelback. and i cant understand why nickelback doesnt get shit on nearly enough compared to tmv. |
Really, I'd rather listen to Nickelback.
|
^^ woah dood
woah. |
Who here has listened to Nickelback? An entire cd?
My mom owns all their cd's and because she blasts the stereo, I have heard.. um.. everything. Hate to say it, but there are actually some cool riffs here or there. Not on any of the singles, I don't think, but some really tough, rocking, harmonics-heavy riffs in a few songs. Not bad actually. With the overproduced-to-fuck-all ultra-processed sound on the album, there's no way it couldn't sound good. Trust me, though, it's not really good music in the least. I'm not telling anyone to listen to Nickelback. However, I will say that the experience is about a thousand times more pleasurable.. the experience of listening to one Nickelback cd... than listening to one Mars Volta SONG (hell, some of their songs are longer than Nickelback albums). |
ha. im not buying it.
you can find cool riffs on anything. im sure you would say theres some cool riffs on a mars volta song too. as for being overproduced to sound good...eh....yeah maybe if youre arguing style over substance. it might sound good, but you can never really polish a turd. to each his own i guess, but i cant fathom someone listening to an entire nickelback album of their own volition. |
True, Mars Volta has precisely one half-mediocre riff. The last song on Deloused, that little finger tapped riff that plays about 8 times throughout the song.
And, in all reality, that's probably the only thing I have ever enjoyed in any Mars Volta song. Nickelback > Mars Volta. All I'm sayin', dudez. |
i'm with adam
|
Yeah, I'd much rather put on a Nickelback record. At least they aren't prancing around saying their music is all cutting-edge and intelligent like a bunch of dicks (at least not to my knowledge.)
|
this is pretty good too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuUfSOKyhWQ those background vocals by Ed O'Brien are killer |
Did you guys know Omar Rodriguez has released 16 solo albums in the past year and a half?!
|
Also, watching the original video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH11Y...eature=related .. it's INSANE how much better the "shreds" version is. I mean, really!
