Pavement - BTC's already
"The fourth in Matador’s series of deluxe editions of the five classic Pavement albums is 1997’s Brighten The Corners."
http://www.matadorrecords.com/pavement/ BTC is easy my favourite Pavement album, this package sounds great, anyone got this yet? Never knew 'and then' was orginally going to be the opening track for the album. It's a rocking song, I prefer it to the later version of it, fun and easy to play as well. I've only just discovered this 4xLP deluxe edition whilst killing time on youtube. Came across this clip, it's well funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jz5Sw...eature=related "Matador Records present a Pavement superfan the chance of a lifetime - a $500 dollar shopping spree at IKEA with multi-instrumentalist Bob Nastanovich of Pavement and Silver Jews fame. As to be expected hilarity ensues throughout." |
this is old news man. try running a search for it
|
even if it's old news, i'm still gonna get it.
if i have the $$$ that is. |
yeah a lot of us already bought this and discussed the hell out of it a long time ago! I seem to remember a longass thread.
|
|
ladies & gentlemen, the king of the search function...
[applause from msgbrd] ...THIS might be why his rep is so large. |
haha
You always crack me up. |
haha ok, I did use a quick search actually, but I hold my hands up, I didn't advance search it or anything. Should of known Moshe would have already posted it. I'll refrain from starting anymore threads. :P
|
I used a quick search too. Just type in "brighten". Haha.

possibly best thing anyone has ever posted on this forum ever..... |
Haha.
It's kind of a dull record, isn't it? Shady Lane really is one of their best songs though. |
meh. I like the album.
|
i like 50% of the songs a lot.... i really dont like 30% of them and the other half are alright so i think the album is better than terror twilight but so is a blowjob from the the fat boys and chubby checker.....
|
OMG, I'm sick of the same arguments over and over. No more Pavement threads for me.
|
arguments??? what arguments???? no arguments!!!!
its all good! and all so forth and stuff....... |
I just feel the TERROR TWILIGHT argument coming on. And I think if we use the search function we'd find that we've done this before. In fact, you and I may have even gotten a little neg-rep happy about it once before. I don't quite remember. haha. Just want to avoid all that.
|
man...there is no argument about terror twilight...i can promise you that!!!!
my search engine is broken..i dropped it when i tried to throw it at the stereo to turn tt off!!!! ;-) lets walk away from it...... and take 5..... lets not get into this neg rep thing...its belittling both us and the album...well us anyway!!! lets talk about slanted..now thats a fucking great album! |
Yes it is. Yes it really really is.
Slanted is definitely very high on my list of greatest albums ever. It's so perfect (sound forever). |
pavement reunion without gary young will be like the cruxifixtion of christ without the stigmata...yeah they are annoying but they have to be there!!!
|
westie can drum!
|
uh. Yeah. Westie rules. I don't want Gary back.
|
Slanted is my favorite record of all time and nothing will ever top it.
BTC is my second favorite Pavement record. I don't understand the dislike for it. Fin? Transport is Arranged? Old To Begin? Starlings Of The Slipstream? Passat Dream? Everything kicks ass, and the outtakes and such are wonderful. For that matter I think Terror Twilight is a solid record, sure, it's their worst, but still has some good songs. ~Jeremy~ |
"Embassy Row" !!
|
i see that an argument is about to ensue here.
![]() unbelievably solid. kennel district rattled by la rush HALF A CANYON PUEBLO the list goes on forever i can honestly say that this has been my 'favorite record' for most of my listening life. sorry if i started something here... |
Wowee Zowee has some of my favorite Pavement songs (Grounded, Half a Canyon, Rattled By The Rush, Pueblo, Kennel District, etc), not to mention my favorite Pavement song, Fight This Generation. But I still prefer Slanted and Brighten personally, then Wowee. They all outside of Slanted switch around a little bit though depending on my mood.
~Jeremy~ |
slanted is their masterpiece though. song for song, it's more solid and consistent. it also has one of the most unique and harsh/sharp yet warm sounds to it.
|
I love Pavement, I want this new reissue.
|
they are reissuing terror twilight as well on 180g vinyl soon.
then in 2 years obviously the cd reissue |
Awesome, the only Pavement reissue I have so far is Wowee Zowee, but I really really need/want all of them.

Your musical life will not be complete without more Pavement or at the least Slanted and Enchanted. The remastered reissue is perfect..... THAT is how you celebrate a record. Any band ever thinking of doing a deluxe reissue of one of their albums need to examine Slanted. ~Jeremy~ |
^ yeah, I wanna get all the Pavement reissues
