Your favorite album endings.
I don't think this thread has been done before so I'm doing it, the question is simple: what's your favorite album endings ?
Mine are: "Decades" on Closer by Joy Division "In the Backseat" on Funeral by Arcade Fire "Some of Them Are Old/Here Come the Warm Jets" on Here Come the Warm Jets by Brian Eno (actually, pretty much every pop album by Eno ends perfectly) "Spirits Drifting" on Another Green World by Brian Eno "Forever" on Circulatory System by Circulatory System "Providence" on F♯A♯∞ by Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Alright" on Alien Lanes by Guided by Voices (to only mention one) "Life Goes Off" on Insignificance by Jim O'Rourke "Bubble/Frida" on Hooray for Tuesday by The Minders "Brother Sport" on Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective "Tomorrow Never Knows" on Revolver by The Beatles and of course, "Two-Headed Boy (Part II)" on In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel |
"I'm trying to find my way home.
I'm sorry . . . And I miss you I miss you I've grown taller now I want the police to be notified I'll make it up to you I swear, I'll make it up to you I miss you." |

"elegie" is perfect too though. but c'mon, there are few things better in life than patti smith and john cale obliterating the who's balls.) sonic youth, washing machine, "the diamond sea" the velvet underground, white light/white heat, "sister ray" (the biggest fucking duh on this list) bowie, aladdin sane, "lady grinning soul" the modern lovers, s/t, "government center" the white stripes, elephant, "it's true that we love one another" prince, purple rain, "purple motherfucking rain" |
Bauhaus "Hope"
Japan "Television" Echo and the Bunnymen "In Bluer Skies" (quite possibly my favorite Bunnymen song of all time) The Cure "Pornography" |

^this. I love how the feedback cuts out at the end of the song. Best album ending ever. |
That Slint tune is pretty devastating. Had quite the impact on me at the time.

Probably my favorite of all time in the universe ever is the last string strains on Moonlight Mile on Sticky Fingers. So perfect. 180 degrees from the album's opening riffs.

going for the obvious:

The last track on Disintegration wasn't the title track, it was Untitled--but it does make for a rather poignant (sp?) ending. How could no one have mentioned The Doors' "The End" or "When The Music's Over"?! WE WANT THE WORLD AND WE WANT IT NOW! |
iggy - lust for life - fall in love with me

Television's Torn Curtain is the perfect ending to the CD.
Tears, tears. Rolling back the years. Years, years. Holding back the tears. Tears, tears. Rolling back the years. Years, years. The years I've seen before. And that final solo, damn. Just perfect. |
Kékéland - Brigitte Fontaine. There's a ghost track with violins, a sort of coda for "kékéland" (the track she recorded with SY), and right after the end of this ghost track, Brigitte F. asks : "ça vous plaît?" ("do you like it?") with her rather nonchalant voice emerging from silence... GREAT!
Amelia - Long Fin Killie "Yawning at comets" just voice and electric guitars... Black One - Sunn O))) "Bathory Erzsebet" 16 minutes of pure tension |
"1983" - from Microwaves' album System 2. Just shy of 16 minutes of insanity which starts with a repetitive drum pattern and then ends up with layers and layers of crazy laughter and some kid squealing "I took a picture of blood" ... Please tell me someone else has heard this - it's awesome in all the wrong ways.
