I am using ME, personally....

I'm debating buying 7. It would be an upgrade for XP. However, 7 Home is like $120 and I could get a new computer with 7 for about $450.

I was just reading on the net how tons of people still get on the internet with Windows 3.1 (with one of the first versions of Windows).

Also, plenty of people are still using Netscape, Wget, and Galeon 1.2.0.

I used Windows 2000 (Professional Edition!) for eight years ; I recently bought a new computer, and therefore am on Vista now (which I do not find as shitty as people say it is, really ... I think it's good)

no. I would go insane if I had to work on that now. I have no idea how that os can deal with current hardware.? or is it being installed on old hardware? how would browsing the internets now on old hardware and software be any fun? nothing would load.

for fun, and no internet, some old games for 5 mins sure maybe. but not for much else.

Nostalgia wins.

Some people also run 3.1 on XP for various reasons. I find it very interesting..

I was on ME for the longest time, even through until after vista I think. It gave me a fair bit of trouble but only toward the end. My second desktop then had xp.. now my laptop has vista. vista > xp. I just wish it was fucking 64 bit so I could use all my ram.

I've been on ME since ME came out haha.

I would be interested in using an older Mac OS since I mostly missed out on that.

But linux is the future so too infinity and beyond...

I think I have expressed my appreciation for Windows 3.1 on this board before. At my folk's house back in the old country I still have a (working) Compaq computer from 1993 or 4 running Windows 3.1. Last time I was home I spent a fair bit of time on it. Can't use the internet on it, though.

I've been on computers since before Windows 3.x, which isn't the first version of windows overal, just the first with a GUI. Somehow I remembered the game Skifree the other day and managed to find the creator's website, where he provides a zip file with the .exe inside. I play it at work occasionally from a flash drive i bring with me loaded. I am one of those linux folks as I'm sure I've stated in other threads before though.

Oh yeah, Buddy holly was on the windows 95 disc, I forgot about that. Just amazing.

I have so many games on old discs that will probably only run on 3.1. Creepy-ass adventure games and ones with weird videos that play at like 2 frames per second. Something really creepy about some of those old PC games.

ME is actually the worst version of Windows ever, supposedly (well, from my experience, Vista is the worst, but who's counting?). It's not that i like it, just haven't felt compelled to change.

I need to pull out some of those old discs and look 'em up on the internet and see if there are any stories about 'em. I mean, there's so many... I have this fucked up car racing game, and I literally can't play it, it's so creepy. It has video of this creepy guy talking about how you have to race around and kill people with your car. This was before Twisted Metal, Carmageddon, and so on. DOOM freaked me out, of course.. I remmeber people making these fucked up wads for 'em where the enemies turned into different celebrities and bunnies and shit.
