radiohead - kid 17
well, im sure some of you know about this radiohead rumor. The idea that if you have 2 kid a radiohead albums, play one 17 seconds ahead of the other, listen and you will hear a truly unique record as opposed to kid a. This is obviously rather far fetched but I still want to give it a try.
Now I know that some people actually mixed this together and uploaded it for download. But I am having trouble finding it online, does anyone have it or know where to find it? |
weird, but if it's true that's an awesome idea. Just download audacity and open each song and duplicate the channel 17 seconds ahead.
|
i tried it on standard sound recorder but the file was obviously too big and froze my computer, I might get audacity but I heard it got spread on limewire and soulseek, though I cant find it...

Audacity's free man, they let you download it. Just google it! |
alright, I got the program, Ill make it tonight and put it up around 2 AM, i got to go to work at the dq now...
|
hey, it may work, it may not work, who knows... fact is, now I at least have something to do tonight...
|
I will probably do it when I get home. This sounds sweet.

dont worry dude, I did it and will upload it, I got off early so Im doing it right now... I put the entire kid a album on one track so the album is taken as a whole, adn so the timing inbetween songs is parallel on each tracks, Im just going to check the timing of the two tracks down to hundreths of a second, and then Ill upload it.... edit: I do have a question though, should I pan it so that 1 track is a little to the left and the other is a little to the right? Or should I just keep them how they are? |
i would keep them as one...
|
i just have a feeling its going to be really clustered if I keep them in the middle, but then again each track is already in stereo so maybe it wouldnt, whatever, Ill upload it in a couple of minutes....
|
|
Why 17 seconds? Pretty random. WOAH DUDE I'M ROLLIN' BALLS.....I kid, I kid.

I think Thom was actually the one who revealed this theory.... |

speaking of radiohead, has anyone heard the thom yorke solo album?
i'm thoroughly enjoying it, it's not mind blowing but it's entertaining, sort of like the last radiohead album (i.e. not ok computer or kid a or anything on that level of awesome) but i'm curious to see some other opinions |
i love his solo album although it seems like he kind of took the idea from billy corgan...
|
I like his solo album.
Kid 17 is really entertaining. |
When radiohead made kid A, they didn't have this 17 second intention in mind though right? it seems like a cool coincidence.

i dont know but listening to kid a (song) last night it seemed like more than a coincidence... anyway its exactly 17 seconds which is kind of odd, i spent like an hour getting it down to perfection about .0020 of a second of a second off, thanks for listening... |
Thanks for doing this, man. I really like it.
|
Can someone tell me where I can download this radiohead stuff.
|
it's there earlier in this thread
|
Awesome stuff!
|
Holy Shit!! This is the best thing I've ever heard in my life. This is the only album where I've totally been blown away the first time listening to it. Now I'm being blown away again. Radiohead isn't even my favorite band but this is great. Everything fits so well. I thought it was going to be crap. The drums sound like they are one track because they fit so well.

In some parts you can tell that the tracks being .0020 of a second off affected the sound. In Morning Bell, the drums are barely off or on The National Anthem the bass lines are almost together. They're off, just by a split second. You can tell two they go together. Hey m^a(t)h, you think you can get the two exactly together? You don't have to, you've already done enough, but it would be nice. I'd like to know more about this thing. Anbody have anymore info on it? |

I dont think .0020 off is going to make a difference, I mean thats 2 thousandth of a second, heres the deal, I dont think they are supposed to be together Thom said that the record would sound unique, not everything being synced up, I mean the bassline sounds sweet and totally different. BUT, Ill will check to see if I can get it any closer (but I doubt I can), Ill listen to it, and see if its different.... |
