there was a huge mass hysteria about dm coming to Sofia last week. never really liked them though the first album is ok.

Saw the Depeche Mode debacle in Kansas City last month. Saw SY in Larryville last night, no comparision. SY is such a more fulfilling experience. Seems like I walk away from every SY show saying , Wow thats the best show they ever did!. DP will Never let Me Down again, truth is Gahan just walked off and never came back after 4 songs... Thurston is way to fonz to ever pull that crap.

becuz they have some synthesisers to abuse and tons of people who pay to see this. i also dislike the group but that doesnt mean they have to die. if so U2 would go first.

why would anyone compare depeche mode with sonic youth? that's like comparing car crashes to ice creams.

i love depeche mode but i'm sick of everyone overhyping them. they are good but they are not the greatest band ever.

i don't know about where you live, but here, every tosser who thinks that by saying they like u2 they are an all knowing real music fan is a depeche mode fan and go around in their concert t-shirts all day listening to playing the angel all day long. every radio station that plays crap like fall out boy and robbie williams play depeche mode, all of a sudden everyone is a fan!

dont get me wrong, i dont really like the band, i just like this video b/c its very simple early thoughtless synth pop. Its before they got very emotional in their lyrics. I love how there all playing synths and dressed in suits, very cheesy cool.

Some great reward and Black Celebration are easily my favourite of theirs.

they're a great band, but for me, this is the only "perfect" record they've made. there isn't a bad or forgettable song on there. unfortunately, it's always overshadowed by goff celebration (which isn't terrible but i hate that middle section of martin songs) and violator, which i never cared for ("OMGpersonaljesus!!!!" :( ).

Here in Los Angeles, they've always had a strong following! Depeche Mode have always liked Southern California. They've played some memorable shows, including the Rose Bowl, which was chronicled in a live CD and film!

I didn't think it was a Cali thing, but I hear about them all the time. Even my mom used hear about them a lot to when she was a teacher and they were more recent.

the mode are an excellent band with many duff albums. violator, black celebration and some great reward are classics and arguably 101 is one of the finest live recordings ever...... respect to them!

i really like policy of truth... but other than that i think their complete shit. then agian i dont' like 98% of 80"s stuff.

this is what has to be done. Put on Violator, loud, and listen to the words. Treat the whole record as if the lyrics are describing one man's obsession with his heroin addiction. it is quite bleak and crazy. I love it. almost every single song on violator seems to be about dealing with an overwhelming addiction.

Clean is an amazing song. I had been sick with them for more than 1,5 years. (Actually I'm a bit redicovering them Now, but they aren't and won't become my favourite band anymore, like they used to be my favourite band), That was the only song by them I regularly listened and didn't bore me during those 1,5 years. And they Acoustic version on the Deluxe version of Playing The Angel, Is also really great.

It's pretty good, I wish I had gotten the deluxe version now that I've heard it.

What's their best album? I've heard Violator and I like it.

Their first album, the one with New Life and Just Can't Get Enough, harmless pop actually sounded quite fresh at the time, and was definitely a personal hit circa summer 82. It didn't hold up for me, the technology used sounds primitive now, but not primitive in a good way. But there were a bunch of synthpop bands at the time writing strong SONGS, Human League, Heaven 17, Flock of Seagulls come to mind.
