please remove (or update) whatever moderation tool that is being used to prevent users from posting links.

I'm sure that it cuts down on yr delete-a-spammer workload, but it mostly just confuses new users, and lately, it's going haywire.

did you update vBB software but not the mod?

(I assume it's a mod and not a part of the vBB itself)

also, if you (or someone) were to delete old threads, the database would move a lot smoother. typically, 150 pages is the point where pruning makes a difference. non-sonics is at 500+.

0 post users take up minimal space compared to the constant page requests of old threads (guests/google spider-bots love to look at 3 year old theads).

if you just don't feel up to it, I would gladly volunteer for deletion duty.

...here's how I did it. This is tricky. Okay... post something. Anything. Doesn't matter what. Then, simply click on "EDIT", then insert whatever the hell you want in the post that was already posted.

you don't have to do all of that. adding text to yr post should also work.

or...respost if you see the moderation symbol.

the spam moderation is out of control. you guys have no idea how much crap there constantly is in the moderation queue--even after deleting all accounts by specific ip's and purging/banning users from entire domains. this is the way it's gonna have to be for at least a month--until it seems that we've killed off as many malicious accounts as possible. after that, i'll put things back and just rely on the registration mods to at least filter bots out.

sorry. but as atsonic points out--there are ways to make due. i know it's inconvenient, but it's only temporary.

Hey Chris, I work as a SEO specialist/web developer. Have you considered putting nofollow tags on all the outbound links? I really dig dofollow, but this site is a pagerank 6 and a prime target for spammers and malicious link sellers. This should largely cut down on the amount of spam since the reason they sign up is to obtain a backlink.

it's not about loading time. it's about posts being moderated. and it's not even about MY OWN posts. there's a much easier way around it than the voodoo adam suggested.
